Inexpensive training watch?
Timex Ironman watches are great for that. They have a number of different models with various memory capacity for splits and intervals.

Of course it's 'effing hard, it's IRONMAN!
The Timex Ironman 50 lap is my favorite and I used one that lasted me 8 years before the band fell apart. I just recently got the newer model, which was slightly more expensive than I remember the first one being ~$50 dependent on where you get it; but if you want cheaper, shop around online and ebay even has some around $20 for some of the less popular colors.
I picked up the Timex Ironman "optimal viewing" model. The face sits on the side of your wrist instead of the conventional spot. It makes it easy to read the time while riding your bike in aero position. No need to twist your wrist to see the time while running. I like it.
Timex Ironman...Nothing else needs to be said
If you get a flat, and don't have a tube, Suck it up and run it in!!!
walmart and target sell them

For me there is no better training watch than one from polar. Whatever what kind of training watch you need. Only pulse mensuration up to bike computer with altimeter. I use the Polar S410 since 3 yeards. No problems.
I echo the timex ironman from Target. You can get the exact same watch that sells in roadrunner sports for $50 at Target for $30. Another interesting place to look at is Campmor.com. It's camping stuff, but they often have overstocks on Timex.
ebay has good deals on ironman watches too - i bought 2 of them from ebay.
Another vote for Timex OVA. Got mine w/ free shipping from paragonsports.com
It is great on the run, but I actually like it best on the bike.

I like the fit of the OVA but they don't make it in a HRM model of it.
Nothing to it, but to do it

I picked up a Timex 1440 Sports about two years ago and it works great for telling time and running as a simple chronograph. For tracking splits...it blows. Plus, the online manual shows features my watch doesn't have.
Anyway, y'all have any recommendations on a watch under $50 that will allow me to track splits...and view them...is waterproof, and durable?
I have no interest in combining HR features with this watch.
