That looked nasty.

Similar thing happened at IMWI this year. Two guys sprinting to the finish one went down but he just slid across on his posterior. He only bruised his ego.

Yes my friend that was blood...
From what I read as a hospital statement, he ended up with a moderate concution, with some internal bruising of his brain and also some external wound that required his to stay overnight at the hospital for treatment and close observation...
That is not a way for an athlete to finish a race...no way...poor guy...hope he gets better soon...

That was scary. They said that 100's of 1000's of runners have crossed that banner over the years, but I sure don't remember it being there before. Show's what kinda state of mind I was in at the finish huh? And how about the 2nd place guy just going right on by? At least Normann Stadler stayed for the 2nd and 3rd place guys to come in at Kona Saturday.

I dunno, guess I saw it differently. It was obvious that it was a medical issue when the 2'nd guy was coming across. He just seemed to get out of the way. Probably best not to have too many people gather around someone that is obviously hurt. Let the people who are tending to the injured have some room.
