Kona Predictions
He'll definitely attack on the bike. It's just a question of who will try to go with him, like Normann and perhaps Al-Sultan, and who will work to help push the pace.
hey Paul,
last year he had pretty good race the first part of the bike. Has he changed anything to try to make solid all the way?
He is doing the last part of his training in Kona for the last 4 weeks. Is it normal for them the be there way in advance or he wants to get a head start?
I don´t have a "country" inclination on my favorites. Sorry guys.... can´t say having and american win would do anything for me just because of his nationality.
If he´s on my list....it´s because of himself as an athlete.
Last year I wanted Peter Reid to win and ended up happy with Al-Sultan.
So I guess I don´t have any real favorites. BUT Chris has defenitly my blessing!! And so does Al-Sultan
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
I'm pullin' for the Red, White and Blue!
Go Chris!!! :D
Any ideas on the weather/wind conditions - or is it pretty unpredictable there?
Sorry guys. I think Chris won´t win. Faris will make the race. Norman Stadler only if he has a good day. Overall I think there will be a german victory. Third in a row.
I would like to see Chris win.
There is no one that is really dominant and Kona levels the field quite a bit.
Lets see who Pele favors this year :D
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'
I really think Cam Brown may have the best shot. He always stays right in the mix on the bike, then has the ability to run down the leaders. If the wind conditions are typical, I think that favors the stronger runners.
Furthermore, after Norman's victory in '05 athletes are aware that you have to stay competitive on the bike. I think you may see a strong bike blow up from someone trying push the pace and establish a big lead. We'll soon see!
Tribro, I hope Chris does well! I too would love to see an American win, so who better than Chris. Hey, the new bike certainly looks fast enough!

I think if Chris can combine his bike with a good marathon, he'll be on the podium. Go Lieto!
But I think Michellie Jones needs to prove she can be strong and go through a little suffering on a tougher day than last year to beat Natascha.
I think Macca and Normann will be the ones to watch. Cam brown needs them to blow up to take them out if they don't I think it looks like this.
1. Macca
2. Stadler
3. Al-Sultan
4. Brown
5. Lieto
Women:
1. Bentley
2. Badmann
3. Major
4. Bowden
5. Jones
Ok...My picks.
Kevin Moats
Joe Bonness
Herb Spicer
All three turn in a 9:30 or better IM And Herb ( a local Maryland boy) was 5th last year.
For the women I 'll have to go with either:
Missy La Strange
Laura Sophiea
Oh ...sorry, this is the race I watch... My AG, the 50-54's.

Following Tribro's comments in the front page I would like to have an all american win Sunday. It's hard to pick THE one but it will be cool the see americans crossing first. I want Crhis to cross the finish line first and M. Jones for the women.
Tribro you mentioned that you have insight to Chris training and psyche and the bike is his forte but can you give us the scoop what part of the bike he may attack or his detail strategy for the race?
GO CHRIS!!!!!!
