Any speculation on how/if the earthquake in Hawaii today will affect this weekend's IM?

It looks like some roads were damaged and from the news I guess electricity and phone coms are sketchy.

Yep! This is going to be difficult. I read today that the center was 16Km from Kona and that there were damaged roads.

We´ll have to check ironman.com for the updates about it. Hopefully it wonpt affect the race (although that´s not the main priority now I guess{meaning hopefully there is not too much damage or injured people})

In ironman.com:

"...at the present time, no alterations to the event or course are necessary...."

I am in touch w a few Kona athletes and they all say things are back to normal. There doesn't appear to be any diff for the race right now.

It's good to hear things are going off without a hitch! When I heard about the earthquake on the news last evening; my first thought: "I hope the race will go on!"

Glad nobody was really hurt.
I hope that the IM goes off without a hitch.
