Bike shoes
Not in all cases.
Before i changed to look pedals I used to use spd´s. I bought a pair of Time shoes on sale online and when they arrived I found out I had to buy an adapter in order to use spd´s on them.
I ended up upgrading my pedals to look and forgot about the spds.
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
If you use a three bolt pattern cleat (shimano SPD SL, LOOK, or Times) you wont have a problem. Two bolt cleats arent too commone for road anymore, and as a consequence most shoes dont come with the two hole inserts.
As stated above, youd need an adapter to get the two bolt to work with the three bolt shoes.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
THANKS for the great info--It will help out a lot!!!
I'd say to avoid using adapters if possible. You want to get a low "stack height" (basically the distance from the bottom of your shoes to the spindle of the pedal) for better power transfer. Depending on the design, adapters between your shoe and the cleat can increase the stack height and have a negative effect on power transfer. Also, you may be more likely to develop numbness or hot spots when using adapters versus using cleats that fit the shoe.

Ok, this is probably a stupid question but...
Can you put any cleats on any bike shoes? In other words, can I go out and purchase new shoes and just put the cleats from my old pair on that work with my pedals?
