Ok. What do think about this??
He had signed up but I don't think they are going to do it. Hamilton's team may be able to pull it off, but that bike course is insane and everyone would have to crush their displine to break the 8 hours.
What an awsome thing IF they can crush the 8hr mark Wow! It says on the IM page that a four man team in IM Europe completed the race in '97 and "Belgian Luc Van Lierde leading four men under 8 hours at Ironman Europe with a new world record time of 7:50:27"

It is a shame to see a drug user like Hamilton invade this great sport.
Well..I agree, but this sport isn't exactly drug free without him, he just gets a little name recognition. Which brings me to a question I have...Do any of you think, or know, that age groupers are out there using performance enhancing drugs?
My bet is for the The Swedes to take it in which Bjorn is on the bike. Other than that, David Millar will probably have a stellar outing. I hope that smash Hamilton. Go SWEDES!

Invade? Come on, it would be very naive to believe that there aren't dopers already winning at the top level of this sport. There have been relatively recent busts to prove that it is true. I believe the only reason more dopers are not busted is due to triathlon's lax doping enforcement
It is a very sad fact of sport.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

You do have a very good point, I just get annoyed by people like Hamilton but it goes on at all levels. I guess at least guys like Hamilton can "justify it" because they are pros. But when the age groupers do it that is just beyond understanding. I know in my metro EPO is a BIG problem and pretty much every top age grouper is using but there is no testing so nothing ever happens. It is a kind of a local joke that if you need EPO then join the local triathlon club. :(

From what I hear there are quite a few pro relays going after that prize purse. I know that R&A Cycles is sending a group. I forget all the names, but I know Bjorn Anderson is the cycling leg, and they have pro a pro swimmer and marathoner as well. I'll check the website for the names. Anderson is a beast on the bike, this guy is likely to put Hamiltion in a not so close second. He rode the Norseman Extreme course on a P3C with a 58-44 & 11-23 in 5:05. I know Silverman is tough course, but is certainly won't be 32 degrees in the higher elevations.

I know for a fact that some of my mates in the 20-24 age group are on the juice. The usual's from EPO to horse steroids(or something)there results sky rocked but they wont go into the Elite category for fear of being tested. It's not fair but i don't let it bother me. I race against the clock and myself. Nobody else.
Speed Kills. Strength Punishes
That does actually suprise me that local age groupers are juicing ... I mean ... what's the benefit? If you aren't even running elite times WITH the juice ... why on earth would you do it?

Kona slot.
I would like to qualify to get to Kona someday, and I will probably try the lottery, but I will do it within the rules.
What is the point if you don't?
I would be a crappy example to my daughters if I cheated.
It would be cool to see a clean team get under 8
Nothing to it, but to do it

From an InsideTriathlon Email I received:
Did you know that Tyler Hamilton is doing a triathlon? Yes, the Athens Olympic gold medalist in the time trial is teaming up with two other pros to compete in this year's Silverman iron distance tri. Why? Big bucks: The first team that breaks eight hours will get $100,000..
