Hi guys,

Just wanting some advice really....I have an ironman coming up in december so I thought right I'll get me a total immersion swim workshop and improve on my weakest part by far.

Well since attending the workshop I seem to have more questions than I have answers and now I seem to be completely lost....going from being a comfortable 15 stroker in a 25 meter pool to now having to really struggle to get to the other end in 15 strokes!!!

Do I do more drills which was suggested or do I forget it and carry on the way I was??? I now think my stroke is actually worse than it was before the workshop and just havnt a clue as to where to go from here....any ideas would be much appreciated!!

I think you should contact TI with the complaint.
I have heard they are realy nice people to deal with and hopefully they would honor their publicity and help you in private (or something similar)

TI is not for everyone and can take awhile to get comfortable with especially if you have been swimming another way for a long time. Sometimes you just have to chalk it up to "I tried it and it didn't work for me" type of situation. There are no sure things in life but that is just my opinion.

Stick with what works for you especially if you have an IM swim ahead of you! :)

Definitely go back to what is working for you - It is too close to your IM to make that significant of a change. It can take months doing the TI drills to reprogram the muscles.

I'd have to agree w/ above. I took a TI workshop in Feb of last year for an IM in Sep and for the first couple months after the workshop, pretty much JUST worked on drills. Whereas my stroke didn't necessarily get messed up w/ TI (and in fact, I hope it improved) my breathing did and it took my a while to figure that out. Eventually, an IM vet convinced me to just do what was comfortable and not fuss with it as the race was getting close and the swim is (relatively) minor part of the day.

You may not want to give up the TI concept, but at this point, it seems you need to give greater priority to putting in the laps.
