Sounds like a real nice race - well except for the jelly fish.
Congrats!

I deferred from this years event until 2007.
I hope the weather is like that for next year.
Great job!!

You know that triathletes are stange people when not one of us thinks that the phrases "awesome race" and "jellyfish to the face" are in any way incompatible with each other. :D
Great race! Was this your first 140.6 event?
For those interested, registration for 2007 will open up in February and the race will be on September 27.
rcortesi,
I thought I saw a TRIFUEL jersey on the course.

Yup that was me!
It was my first 140.6 race. I'm pretty stoked about the results. Especially since I felt like was exploring the relem of minimum training possible. And that I was not very sore in the days that followed. I have been really tired though. They aren't kidding when they say it takes a lot out of you.
The best part, is all the extra time I have in my day now!!!

You picked a great race for a first time IM-distance event. When you fully recover you'll have to fill some of that "extra" time!
Congrats on the milestone and good luck with your training

This was an awesome race. It was very well organized and the course was beautiful.
The Swim:
I found swimming a point to point course to be much more enjoyable that an out and back. Watching the sunrise during the swim was cool.
I took a couple of Jelly fish to the face, OUCH! I guess they go after the slow and the sick.
The Bike:
Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is beautiful. The marsh and pine forests were really pleasant to bike through. With only 200 entrants spread out over the 45 mile loop, there were long intervals where I couldn't see any riders ahead or behind me (I was BOP/MOP). The roads are well paved, with almost no traffic, and big shoulders.
There is about 15 feet of elevation gain over the whole 112 miles. Be ready for wind. We got lucky that it was a tailwind for the last 15 miles of the ride. Every other time I have ridden the course, there the last 15 miles is into a stiff headwind over the completely flat marshland and fields.
The Run:
Doing an out and back 3 times was a lot better than I expected. It was neat seeing the same runner and volunteers multiple times. The aid stations were frequent and well stocked.
I would definitely recommend the race. I'm in nowhere near as much pain as I thought I would be afterwards. I also liked that it was a pretty small crowd.
