I see lots of interesting Trifuel names, and was just wondering how you came up with yours. Star is a nickname I had in college and its followed me since. I was given the name after some friends and I watched the movie The Lost Boys and somehow it stuck with me. What about you?
Good thread Star.
I am a bird bander in my spare time (which right now is nil) for Environment Canada. I like bluebirds, and biking is my strength thus, "bluebirdbiker" I also get bugged by friends when we ride cause I end up birdwatching. Ya, I'm a geek.
Tikal Dog
Well mine is bit dumb
The Dog part comes from high school when I had this crush on a girl who saddly didn´t want anything to do with me but to be just friends.
A friend told me out loud during a class I looked like a dog following her skirt. They all laughed and since that day the nick Dog has followed me. And over time it didn´t get asosiated with the original story which was nice cause that´s one of the things you don´t want people remembering.
The Tikal part came couse even though I´have traveled a lot around different countries in the world Tikal is still my favorite place. There is a strange "something" when you go there. I don´t know if it´s because it´s said to be one of Earth´s energetic places but there is something that I can´t realy describe when you enter the park.
Now the first Tri I ever did (not in relays) ended in Tikal. It was the race I have many times told you all about. And since this forum is about Triathlon I figured out I had to reflect the race this Dog loves.
Worked with a guy with the same first name as mine - so to lessen confusion went with my initials 'RV'. That started over 20 years ago...
Well, so nice to read your stories guys....
Mine well is pretty boring...it all has to do with my career choice with the Dr...that is MD in Spanish...Rios...is my last name..and the Ec recognices my home country Ecuador...
When I signed up for Trifuel I was trying to come up with some more fun and meaningful nickname...I thought of using Flea...becuase that is my nickname in the athletic world...the reason...well I am not tall at all...AT ALL! but I got discourage for no particular reason to use it...
My lastname contains "Yam" and since I am not a real sweet potato, i added pseudo...hence, pseudoYams.
-Rob
I don´t know you guys...but would be nice to eventually know the real names...
Mine is Santiago...
Good post. I do triathlons :), thus tri. I am also the first born of 3 brothers, so it just seemed to fit.
Projects: Trifuel.com, BASE Performance
Good post. I do triathlons :), thus tri. I am also the first born of 3 brothers, so it just seemed to fit.
Okay so what is the story on Trifuel - first time I saw it - thought it was for a supplement...
My first name is Antoinette, so most people just call me Ant. I played flag football for about 4 years in the same league. Girl td's got more points, so I got to throw when we were inside the 5, and qb ant or just "qube" is what they call me.
Ant
Mine is not as original as some of yall's. My name is Chris and I ran Marathons before becoming a Triathlete. So chrisrunzs26 seems to fit.
Chris
i study biochemistry/biophysics and will hopefully start working towards my PhD next year so that's where the biochem part comes from.
When I was about 10 I have Terminator 2 enough times to significantly impair the VHS we had of it and the T-1000's ability to morph into different objects was always cool to me.
On an episode of the Flintstones, Fred becomes a race car driver, but must make use a fake identity so his boss Mr. Slate doesn't find out. His name -- Goggles Pizanto. I always loved the name and character.

I recognized yours immediately.
I watch a lot of cartoon network with my kids.
My nickname is from high school and has stuck with me.
(which is a bit naughty! )
and the year I graduated from high school

Hmmmm, naughty eh? "beads huh?" Say no more, say no more.
No great imagination went into mine. I'm Tim, I do tri's, I'm from KC. Some training partner's have nicknamed me TIMEX because I'm an IT guy and into all the data etc on training. So perhaps I'll change to that.
Hmmmm, naughty eh? "beads huh?" Say no more, say no more.
It wasn't my fault!!
It was a big misunderstanding,...
Unfortunately, it stuck

But, did you read the post with the Italian accent?
But, did you read the post with the Italian accent?
Outloud, everytime, Buongiorno!!:D
Outloud, everytime, Buongiorno!!:D
I graduated in 85 too. I'm starting to get scared.
Well, I ride a bike called a Litespeed Saber, I refer to my coach as my Jedi Master and he refers to me as his Padawan Learner, even wents so far as to yell "Anakin!" at me during my last race. So I'm a not even remotley in the closet sci-fi geek so my board name here is Red5, the call sign of Luke's X-wing.
See what I mean? I'm an uber-dork at heart!
Nice thread!
Montreal, well... That's where I live, train and work.
Doug, well, to make it interesting, let's say it's the name Arnold Shchwarzenegger had in the movie "Total Recall" in the 80's. :D
A Vollenda is a camera. One of my hobbies is photography and I also collect old folding cameras. Besides, I don't usually have to worry about someone else using that name. Snoopy, my nickname, always seems to be taken.
Should be obvious that my name is Jamie. My last name starts with an M. What can I say, my creativity stuns even me sometimes.
mine is an attempt to foster some sense of improvement in racing and life by learning and absorbing knowledge. soo... train the brain became TrainDaBrain. Said with some kind of count chocula accent, roll the 'r's.
not wanting to be presumptuous in a sport in which i'm not particularly accomplished, "tri" + my initials seemed humble and direct. [although in scanning the members list, i see i've got a doppelganger minus the hyphen]
Well... a typical no-brainer here. I'm just blessed with the greatest name in the world and boasting it on this forum ;)
Well a long time ago, in Austria, someone named my great grandfather,"Anton."
Then he named his son "Anton,"
Who named HIS son "Anton"
Who promptly slapped the moniker on me.
That simple.
PS. In a fit of logherea during the Goofy Challenge last January beads confessed where his name came from...
but I promised him i wouldn't tell....ever.
wookumus: derived from wookie...a furry creature seen in Star Wars...known more commonly as Chewbacca...a nickname I've had since highschool...started because my last name is Baca, NOT because I am hairy! ha
Well, there was this movie with Barbra Streisand and Nick Nolte and I liked the pun.
'sides I am a clydesdale, i.e. over 200lbs and a nice guy.
:)
PoC
glad you asked.

It sounds like your ancestors might be lacking some originality.
Anybody that wants the origin stry of beads has to hear it from me in person while running an event.
Sorry I had to put you thru that Anton,
but fortunately you lived to tell the tale!!

I was forced to sit thru 'Prince of Tides' as a date movie.
That movie was horrible.
I think your Nickname is probably the best thing that could have come from that movie.
Paiko is from a wildlife sanctuary by that name near my home. I've always fantasized about opening up a tri shop (think of all those shiny toys waiting to be played with :) ) and using a portion of the profits to support the sancutary. Problem is I'd probably play with every toy that came in and wouldn't be making any money at it.

Yeah, thanks beads.
I didn't want you to think I was a "heavyweight triathlete who got abused during the swim leg.."

somewhat long story.. i'm a big fan of all things technology and mechanical. especially things like aircraft that can't be seen, carbon fiber bikes, formula one cars, super computers, etc etc
in the mid 90's, i was a dot.commer like everyone else, and i figured for kicks i'd register skunkworxz.com - a play on name of the Lockheed Martin Skunkworks, who created stealth technology amongst other things.
shortly after registering my nifty domain and putting up a lame web site, i recieved a letter from Lockheed Martin's legal dept asking me to stop using the name, and to hand it over or else.
being somewhat young and not the millionaire dot.commer, i didn't really put up much of a fight, figuring a judge is not going to let an individual take on LM and the DOD over a name and win.
so, in my small way of getting back at the man i started using skunkworxz for things like email aliases and profile names, and it stuck.

And having your posts disappear without warning, your e-mails read, and being followed by that black van everywhere you go doesn't freak you out?

i always thought the black van was my personal support vehicle.. should i be worried?
if you phonetically say mine, it is just about how you say my name (kylie). Since kylie was taken on message boards/messenging services/etc or (more often) was too short, I used kyillee long ago in high school and it is now my online name everywhere.
(don't tell tribro, but I also have kylie on here... I just use this one since then all my webself has the same name) ;)
one of many nicknames for Francisco, is pancho. I always been pancho. Tri is the link to the sport.
I've never been creative with names and such for myself. Thus, my real name.
My nicknames from family and friends are Toni-bolgna, TB, tuberculosis (TB), Toni-maroni, T, and Antonia (named after my g-ma). Antonia is always taken and I didn't really feel like using any of the others.
Wow hmmm...
I was the only straight guy in fashion and J is the first letter of my first name. In high school playing football the called me JStyle. I guess that definately could have been a WHOLE lot worse.
gfd - initials. Boring and I didn't even think to capitalize them.
I suffered from bad acid reflux back in college. As the story goes, I had some heartburn the same night I signed up for one of my first interweb forum accounts. In need of a username, I simply thought to use reflux. I like being consistent, plus it's cool when users from various forums recognize the name. Woot.
Beer, of course.
I started doing tri's again because the beer and golf was making me fat. And being a beer snob I find it much more satisfying to make my own.
I also make wine, port, and hard cider. There is always a tasty reward after my workouts.
Mike
Whoa! Party at HBmikes house!
I served 11 homemade beers and homemade rootbeer at my last party :D Beer making goes really well with tri training as long as it's not a full IM. When training for fulls nothing gets done.

Yeee Haw!!!

First Name, Last Name
Not creative.
Mine was pretty straightforward for me. I was trying to figure out a new Instant Messenger name one evening (was dropping my old one due to a stalkerish type person), and didn't want anything with numbers in due to a name already being taken.
I used to be a river guide and grew up rafting, my last name is Brady, thus RiverBrady...and it's unique enough that I can use it for any IM/BBB/Messageboard/registration I need.
cork feen in pr
cork, ireland my hometown
feen, local version of dude
pr, puerto rico, where I live right now
actually pretty boring and informative
Lots of new folks it seems lately...Decided to bump this up and get a handle (get it?) on some of the new folks trifuel names.
