Headache while swimming
Goggles too tight?
Swim cap could be! This happens to me when i have something to tight over my ears. I have to veins there that give me trouble when I buy googles, lenses or anything else that has to rest there.

have you tried swimming earplugs? Sometimes the sloshing water in your ear from the freestyle body rotation can cause discomfort, headaches, even seasickness. I wear earplugs when I swim and it seems to help - especially when the water is cold.
Well, I use the same goggles for practice, and don't have the same problem. Never tried the ear plugs...but that might be a good idea. I hate it when I get water gets stuck in my ears, anyway! Maybe I should stretch out the cap before the race...?

Head aches can come and go. I got in the habit years ago of taking aspirin before a long swim to help circulation and avoid pain.
Is it a sinus headache? If so, I'd say perhaps you're allergic to the chlorine or other chemicals.

I raced the Oly at Disney yesterday and noticed that soon after the start I had a headache. I'd hydrated well both Saturday and Sunday morning. What's the cause? My only two ideas are: the condom-sized swim cap was too tight; or it was caused by the exhaust from the many boats on the lake. Any other ideas?
