Storing a Wetsuit

My 1st full season in triathlon is almost over (1 more race this weekend) and I am hooked to say the least!

However I need some advice. How should I store my wetsuit over the off season? Normally I just leave it hanging up in my unfinished basement. Is that ok to do all off season? Or should I do something else like lay it on the floor someplace that it won't be stepped on, etc? Also does the temperature matter? My basement is probably 65-70 degrees in the winter.

Any help I can get would be great because I really want this wetsuit to last for a couple more seasons.

Clean it good and hang it up on a wide shouldered hanger. Just make sure that it is out of the way so nothing will accidently cut the neoprene.

I roll my wetsuit and out it in a cloth bag and hang that from a hanger in my closet. That way it stays out of the way, safe from my cat and no hanger marks are in the sholder area.

Hope you had a great season. Enjoy a little R&R and have fun next year!!

I made the mistake of storing my Xterra wetsuit inside out (with the jersey side outside). I found one point of contact where the rubber skin stuck to rubber. I had to carefully separate these.

In the off season I store mine hanging on a wide shouldered hanger. The suit is on it's fourth year.
I have heard of folks who fold and store in a cool dry place, but hanging,I think, prevents creasing.

I use a good cloth padded sweater hanger, you can find them for less than $5 at target or somewhere.
Though one of my friends has a wide long shelf that she leaves her sleeping bag spread out on and once her wetsuit is dry, she lays it out on top of the sleeping bag for safe and unstretched storage.

Before you store it make sure it is clean not just rinsed off.
I use a wetsuit conditioner/cleaner on it and then store it on those wide hangers.

Thanks for all of the feedback. Does air temp make a difference when storing your suit? My basement is fairly cool and somewhat damp. Would upstairs be a better storage location?

I would try to keep it out of a damp environment.
