It's here...
Nice! What are you using to build it up?
Sorry, to see your getting away from the GT. I'm still riding my 2001 I-Drive.

I've got a SRAM X-9 drive train, Truvative Stylo Team cranks, American Classic Bottom Bracket, headset, and seat post, Zocchi MX Comp (120mm... the cheap part of my bike. I don't have the $$ to throw at the super high end forks) Avid mech discs (180mm front, 160 rear) bontrager Race Lite USTs with WTB Weirwolves.
Its more of a trail bike than a racer for sure. I have a lot of light parts left over from my hardtail experiment (frame geometry didn't suit me.)
I am riding the GT Sunday. It was my first real bike and has served me well. It has certain... deficiencies that have been exposed through all my riding. The frame is a little small, and I get cramped in the cockpit on long single track. The travel is a little "ejector seat" feeling, even at the lightest rebound. I've loved it, but its time to move on. I will likely donate it to a MTB-less friend to get them riding.

Well, tech. stuff has certainly moved forward. I'm familiar with the "ejector seat" thing. I traded up to a Fox rear shock in an attempt to make the ride a little more supple and responsive. While it certainly didn't hurt, I think it is more the shock placement and pivot points on the those frames. I've demoed both the Specialized Epic and Giant Trance, world of difference a few years makes; no bobbing (especially the Epic with the "brain" thing) and much more intuitive to the terrain.

Well, hopefully I wont be eating it with this cake ;) It'll be built up in a couple weeks. Waiting for wheels and tools to arrive.

With the end of tri season just around the bend, my new toy has found its way into my hands.
I just need a couple of tools (headset cup remover, BB tool) and I will have it largely intact. New disc wheels on orders. :D
I'm ready for some fun in the dirt!
