Wow. Mighty Hamptons in Sag Harbor NY. Perfect weather for an incredible, emotional FUN day. Trained for two months for my first tri and was amazed at how good I felt. Went in not trying to race but to finish and had a blast. Missed my wave swimming! So I went with another wave. Had some issues swimming straight... Only my third time on a road bike on the actual road (am obsessive spinner) so I took big down hills and turns easy. The run was just fun. Took it easy- drank lots of gatorade and happily sprinted to the finish. Transitions were s-l-o-w. Ate a banana, said hi to my kids, thanked every volunteer within earshot. Finished in 3:30. not impressive but so much fun and the high of knowing I did it is still with me.
Congratulations!
This is what I love about this sport.... the real competition is with yourself!!! You´ll see that next time you´ll be looking back at that 3:30 and you will only care about improving YOUR time compared to your last result.
Enjoy it and congratulations for becoming a Triathlete!
