Hi- and I do realise that there is a massive amount of information on the site about this, but I have been reading for half an hour at least and I've overloaded myself with info! I thought I'd just ask my question anyway.

I've recently started to split my workouts over the working day, with a swim, or weights at lunchtime and a longer session afterwards, 4 days out of 5 (and longer sessions at weekends). I'm very new and very much a novice at this but my fitness levels are increasing dramatically and I'm loving it.

My dilemma is to try and balance weight loss (5'3 and 76 kilos) with sufficient fuel for training. I sometimes find myself with a real energy dip during my evening workout and wondered if anyone had hints and tips about what to try and eat and when. My diet is based around good old fashioned healthy eating with lots of fruit and veg and I've been trying extra pieces of fruit but it doesn't really hit it. I wondered whether protein bars or something would work, but still kind of think they're for people who 'really' train!

Thanks for taking the time to read this- it's turned into a really long post- and advice or feedback greatly welcomed.

I have heard realy good coments about Chris Carmichael´s book regarding nutrition and training (don´t remember the books name). I guess it would be a good investment trainright.com

I don´t like to give advice on things like this where everyone is so different. For me....going to a Nutritionist helpd me almost 4 years ago with loosing 30 pounds and maintaining a healthy body when I started to train harder after I had reach my weight goals.

Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)

Hello my friend nutrition is a very wide and interesting field...Carmichael´s book as Tikal recomended is a great source...Coach Gordo´s site is also awesome for nutritional tips, and of course on top of all there are good pieces of info in this site. Now, if you feel like lacking of energy during your workout might be because you are not fueling enough before and during your session. Believe me, if you are trainning in two split session during the day, and putting your heart on it...most likely you are going to keep a trend of loosing weight...
Your meals should be split in6 during the day, that is a good way to keep you fueled and help to mantain your metabolism high, and not to store fat. Before your workout try some simple and easy ways to fuel your body...try a sport drink...maybe with a energy bar...a fruit like a banana is great...
Try to experiment with different stuff, some of them might be good others not to much in terms of what you tolerate better...here we always say " what works for athlete A might be different for athlete B"
Hope this helps a little
Best of luck
