Is your season over?

I have 2 more races. My A races are behind me and I feel a little empty not having the focal target of these races to train for.

I'm starting to plan out the next season - loosely. I've done about 9 races this year. Mostly sprints and one oly.

Next year I will be shooting for more olys and at least one half iron.

I'm going to start adding more strength training to my workouts, and after thanksgiving, stop focusing on speed/power and switch to longer slow base-building training sessions until end of jan/early feb. Then build speed/power over feb through april...

I'm eating more. I lost a little too much weight and it feels as if I am a little weakened by it or maybe I'm just tired.

My season's been over since the end of August. I took two weeks off and have started doing some light base-building. I'll really get going as October comes around.

I have one more race...my last chance to go sub 5 for the half distance. If I can get over this cold I think I'll be ok. Then I'm going to do some fun mountain bike races...the month of mud here in western PA. Then I'll take a bit of time off and refocus for next season.

Ya....tri-season is now in off-season. Have a marathon in a couple weeks then a 5K with my daughter. Then all is done.
Working on my ATP and race schedule for next season. So far only IMWI 2007 scheduled :D

I'm not even in the middle yet! Can't race in AZ during the summer, but you can train and become a heat acclimated machine! I still have 2 Olympic races and a Half over the next month. Time for all those rides and runs in 110 degrees to pay off some dividends!

Season? Which season are you talking about? My tri season ended in July this year...now it's Marathon/Ultra/Century season..then a few weeks off after Goofy, then Tri season crank up... My seasons never really end...the focus just changes.

One more...Chesapeakeman Iron-Distance Sept. 30. A filler after failing to qual for Kona. On the bright side, it is flat as a board, so I hoping to go below the 10 hr. mark for the first time. We'll see?

One more.... Colby tri this weekend. Last new england collegiate tri series race. I'm already so tired - last weekend I had to wake up at 2:45 am to drive to Hammerfest and it will be about the same this Sunday. Then no more serious races (maybe a couple running races for fun) until cycling season starts in march and no tri's again until collegiate nats at the end of april. When I'm finished, it will be 3 olys and 7 sprints for the season...

I finished up this last weekend...phew. However, I never really quit training. Now I can get back to strength training, spinning, yoga, hockey, eating...LOL.

I usually spin it back up in January and get back to base building.

1 Aquatlhon in October and 1 Oly in November (which I´m not sure if I will be able to do) Then it´s over.

Of course I´m running the St. Silvester race on December 31th but that´s just for fun.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??.." :D

I am doing something all year round. The focus changes.
I will do about 40 events this year.

My 'A' race(the Chesapeake Man) was deferred until 2007 because of a knee issue.

Late spring thru early autumn is my Triathlon season, with some running events thrown in.

From early autumn to late spring is mostly running.
A fall marathon, a winter marathon, and a spring marathon
(Disney the last 2 years and this winter too!)

Life is good!!!

Hey magicno5: tell me more about this: a week later I'm running a marathon with Dean Karnazes in Tampa as part of his Endurance 50. When? Where?

I'm doing an Oly this weekend at Disney in preparation for the 70.3World Championship race in November. I may do the Strangeman's biathlon (run-swim-run-swim) in Oct for fun. After that, I'll take some time off to recover and enjoy the holidays. I'll fit in a 1/2 marathon in Jan as I start getting ready for IM Austria '07 :D

I have one more sprint tri mid-October to do...

At the end of Sept. I am doing a 5K trail race and from November through March or April I want to work on maintaining my fitness during the winter..

Plan on doing some 5/10K's and some longer bike rides as well as work on my swim...

Hopefully by next spring I can start off the tri season good and strong..

Thanks gang....

Hope everyone had a successful racing season this year..

Any suggestions on maintaining and improving your fitness in the off-season?

Star, check out endurance50.com...Dean is running the route of the Tampa marathon the last weekend of October. You pay $100 bucks to run with him to cover the costs of the supplies like water and drinks. I'm totally pumped to run it because it will probably be only a handful of people. You should totally do it!!! I live in Boca Raton and I'm driving up to run this one.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

As you may have been able to tell by my latest entries - my season is nearing it's end, with only a marathon remaining as a final A-race.

The 2006 TRI season is in the books for me and my bestest training partner, my wife. It started In January with preparations for IM Arizona and ended successfully last weekend. One IM, 2 halfs, 2 Olympic distances, five sprints a duathlon and a couple of running races including an half marathon.
It is just great to end on a high note. This past weekend we did the half iron distance in Montreal. My wife, who will be 46 in a few weeks, did a half PR at 4:56 and I was just a minute off my pre-race prediction of 5:28.
We will do a half marathon Oct. 1st and a marathon on abbreviated training October 21st.
November I will work on some strength training and start training
again in earnest December 1st for Ironman New Zealand. In 2007
we hope to travel more and do some different races.
And the beat goes on............

My tri season is over. My running season just started. Kiawah mary in Dec, Myrtle Beach mary or half mary (haven't decided) in Feb. I'll do a few 5ks in there just to see my running buddies, but nothing serious. First tri of the season will be East Cooper Coastal tri in April.

Tri season is over, ended early due to being called up to fight fires here in Montana. Damn! I have on running race left, the Army 10 miler in D.C. I'm looking forward to that trip. 30,000 runners ugh!!!! Should be fun. Once I get back I'll be looking toward the base training and planning for next season.

Ok, now my tri season's over. Up in Waterville, ME this morning it was low 60s and steady rain. I stupidly dropped my chain over the outside of my chainring so I had to stop, get off, and put it back on after it got tangled around the crank and then I started back up in my 50-14 so I lost quite a bit of time there, but I still did ok. I got either 2nd or 3rd in the collegiate division (my teammate won) I don't know which since they were messing things up at the awards, but thats ok. It was fun and I don't really care. Ok next week easy and then back to training and maybe some 5ks, 10ks, and or duathlons until cycling starts in march.

Mine is done until Ann Arbor Triathlon 2007. I contemplated running Detroit or Chicago Marathons, but I think I will finally let my patella bone bruise heal 100%

Now I get to look forward to winter training in Michigan...woo-hoo:mad: .

One more sprint on 10/8 - first time using a wetsuit  should be interesting. Throw in a few 5K's and 10K's, but really want to focus on a 1/2 marathon in 2007.
