Race shoes
You talking bike or run?
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
For running: I have been using Brooks t4 racer. They are very light weight (~12 ounces per pair or 300 grams) Only use those for 5 and 10k though, they are too thin for anything farther.
ups; just for running
nike zoom air pegasus. They are awesome. Made for anything from the mile to the marathon. I'd recommend a set of quick laces since the stock laces aren't all that long.

I have been racing in the Adidas Boston Classics for a few years now. They are not necessarily racing shoes, they weigh in at just over 10 oz. They are very responsive, feel fast, and have great forefoot cushioning. The biggest upside is they don't beat up my knees like racing flats do. You can find them relatively cheap online.
