This being one of the most competitive and quickly filling races, what is the best way to sign up? Would I be better off going down there this year, and waiting in line to sign up on Monday, or should I just be quick on the keyboard come 9am November 5th?

Its only an 8 hour drive from where I live, and I'm thinking of going just to be a volunteer this year, but if I have a better chance of registering online, then I'll probably just do it that way. Any help would be appreciated.

My husband had no problem registering for me last year (I was doing the NYC Marathon), but IM Wisconsin just filled in 45 minutes!!

Why not come down to volunteer and join the party and cheer us on!! :-)

I posted this same question about a week ago. I am going to try and get my entry in for this race as well. I am about 8 or so hours away as well. I am planning on going up to watch it so I can get an idea of how things go. And then waiting in line the next day. I think I am going to have someone sitting at home on the computer trying to get my entry in as well. Which ever works faster. Here's my thread from last week....

IMoo sold out in 45 minutes this year. You can bet IMFL will do the same. I hope to be ther to watch, but I dunno about that. I might be out on an epic MTB ride that day...

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

According to the website, on site registration opens at 9AM, with online registration now opening at 10AM. So I signed up to volunteer, and sign up in person on Sunday after the race.

And with $45 a night at the travel lodge, I won't break the bank either. Anybody else going down?

If you are asking about the cost of the IM registration - It is about $450.

Thanks. I asked in another post but never got a concrete answer.

Ok, IMFL website changed their info on signup AGAIN!!! Onsite registration is still open at 9, but online registration is not open until 11am, local time. (Panama City is in central time)

I'll be in the transition area volunteering. Wearing my IMUK visor. Good luck to all.

Hey Kicker,

How was it volunteering at the IMFL 06 and how was the on-site registration process for IMFL 07? Am thinking of doing the same this coming November? Was on-site registration fast?

Thanks!

I signed up three people including myself online for the '06 race and we all made it in. You can fill out the info online early that morning and wait to hit submit.

It was ok. I have a newfound respect for volunteers because they work their butts off. The lady that was in charge of my area was a total bitch. She weighed 400 lbs and yelled at people. I finally told her that I wasn't getting paid enough to be yelled at, and if she continued, she'd be doing all the work herself.

At the time, we were racking competitors bikes, and she wanted two 12 year old girls to rack the pro's bikes. Which by the way, the pros sling their bikes at you from 10 ft away. Naturally we proved right. One of the kids missed the bike completely and a pro's bike went flying about 50 ft into some concrete curbing...

Anyway, signup wet very fast. All you do is put your name and email on a sheet, and they give you a number to use for online registration a few days later.

All in all, it was a good experience. I'd say, if you want to guarantee your entry and give something back to IM, go volunteer.
