My first hit.....
The dad didn't say anything to her?
If you get a flat, and don't have a tube, Suck it up and run it in!!!
Oh course, not. It's NEVER the kids fault! If that was my kid, I woulda made her park the car and forget about going where ever she was heading.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Wow! I cannot believe that the Dad did not say a thing to herAND that he yelled at you even though it was HER fault. Good thing nothing bad happened to you. I would have done something worse than just yell though.

Close calls CAN be a good thing though...I almost got clipped a few weeks back and helped me to "refocus". I had been getting a little overconfident on my bike and started to lose a little bit of fear.
Just glad you're OK and no damage to your ride. OH and that Dad's a dink....you can almost excuse her behavior, but not his.

Thankfully, no hits for me.
That's amazing and very sad about the father. Hopefully the girl figures out to look in the future on her own, no thanks to the father.

A car cut me off yesterday --- making a right turn into a church parking lot. I braked hard and barely avoided it. Having just rebuilt my bike, I think I would have strangled the driver if we had collided.
Hopefully, the driver's prayers for better eyesight and/or judgment have been answered.

I got hit by a car a couple years ago while I was on my commuting bike. He mostly hit my bike and not my body luckily, but I got my back all jacked up on the landing. Someone who saw it happen called the cops who were there super fast as well as an ambulance. The guy who hit me got about four citations for various aspects of what he had done wrong. The cop told me there were enough points off on the citations he was going to get his license suspended.
My bike was actually fairly easy to fix and my back was almost back to normal after a couple weeks.
Then I got a subpoena in the mail soon after to appear in court for the guy's court date where he was going to contest getting his license suspended. To (literally) add insult to injury, I wasn't subpoenaed as The Victim who got hit but rather as a witness to the act of his hitting someone. Ah the legal system. I was kind of feeling like getting subpoenaed and having to spend the day in court was almost as painful as getting hit... but seeing him get his license suspended for a year was very, very satisfying.

We have a route that my bike team uses a lot and it's a little dangerous. The city and the team have put permanent signs along the route saying, "Share the road", "Watch for bikers" that sort of thing.
I haven't been hit but several SUV's going by me fast without even edging into the other lane..."Thanks guys". :)
These days, people are more worried about the consequences of a lawsuit and so become selfishly defensive before acting compassionately. That is why the father did not say anything incriminating when the incident happened.
Glad that you and the bike are okay.
No one takes responsibility anymore.
What a great example her dad is, guess that explains why she trailed you like that - that might have been a good time to hurl the water bottle. Then again bike vs car, bike loses...

A water bottle mightnot have done much damage. I wonder what would happen if you threw a full CO2 cartridge at her tires. (Sometimes I think I watched too much Roadrunner as a child.)

I would have beat the father in his own front yard for yelling at me. IM not joking.

Well, I knew it was only a matter of time. I finally got hit today. Nothing bad, I managed to not even fall. Just more frustrated then anything. I had a young girl, 17-18, pull out of her driveway without even slowing down. Never looked or anything. I was going about 20-21 and just happened to look over and see her flying out her driveway at me. I managed to slam on my breaks and unclip right as she tapped my leg. Then I screamed a few rather colorful words at her. She looked at me as if "Oh where'd you come from?" I was so mad that I almost tossed a water bottle at her, but her dad was sitting in the front yard and started to yell at me after I yelled at her. So I felt it was best to just keep going. And then, she followed about 500 feet off my back for the next 4 miles before passing me. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! Oh well, at least my bike and me are fine.
