Ahh! Can't remove a pedal! (4 broken wrenches!)
Yikes! Dont' know what to tell you about getting the old pedals off, but remember to grease the threads of the new ones before you put them on!
You do know that one of the pedals is reverse threaded, right? The drive side pedal will loosen when rotated counter clockwise, the non-drive pedal has to be turned clockwise.
The only other suggestion is to get a good pedal wrench (I've had a Park for years) and a length of pipe to fit over the end to give you more leverage. If that and maybe a little lubricant don;t work, take it to the shop.
they're not really that old ~18 months i guess. I tried heating it up to no avail. I managed to get the other one back on loosely and brought it to the bike shop. He couldn't get it off either. He's having his lunch now and he said he'd try a bit of heat after lunch. Hope it works!
I knew about the reverse threads already, but thanks for the advice! Gonna look into getting a pedal wrench after this incident! Now i just have to add the bike shop guy's labour to the very, very long list of expenses that has been MY FIRST TRIATHLON!!!
Cheers guys!

Bring it to your local bike shop, if they break a wrench they shouldn't charge you for it.
I had a similar problem. Liquid Wrench took care of it.
When you put them back on coat the threads with "anti-cease" (sp?). That works great.

When applying force to the wrench, it's always easier to do so with a LONG wrench than with a short one.
If you can't do it with a short or normal wrench, maybe a longer wrench could do the job. Sorry if you already knew that. ;)
I second the Liquid Wrench. Blast it and let is sit. Hit it again a little later. Always use a pedal wrench when taking pedals off. The thicker heads of normal wrenches can jam in there...and break... Pedal wrenches have thin heads and long handles for leverage. Always put a little grease on those threads before installing, too.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
The LW is awesome...so is a piece of metal pipe that fits over the end if the wrench about 3 feet long.

I'm sure Atlas would have been happy to know that...! ;)
thanks for all the replies guys. The bike shop got it off, with a couple of broken spanners, some lube and some heat. He was a little bit irritated, but hey, it's not my fault. I didn't put them on like that! And plus, I said " I can't get it to budge" and he said "don't worry, I'll get it off". And he got paid for it, so that's the end of that!
On a slight tangent: i went out and did my brick(my hardest yet):45k on the bike, followed by an 8k run. All went well except i forgot that i was strapped into my new fancy pedals and when i went to turn around for the return part of my ride, i fell plonk on the ground outside a pub where about 30 people were outside having a drink and laughing at me. Ah well!:o
Again, cheers for all of the replies. Oh, and btw, the bike shop guy did put lube on the threads thank god, so i hopefully won't have any trouble getting these boys off!
Cheers!

I'm Shocked! They didn't offer you a pint?
Don't worry about the pedal falls. Happens all the time and usually in front of mass gatherings of people or cute blonds in sports cars.

That's cool. I actually saw levi and gerolsteiener team on Mt. Tam in the bay area....After being passed like I was standing still while heading up a climb, the team was at the top trying to figure out where they were going. At the top of the climb we came to a stop, I was so in awe that I was in the presenence of levi and his boys that I forgot to unclip, fell over into my friend who then fell over like a set of dominos. :o

Hi guys, i bought a new set of pedals yesterday, and i can't remove one of the old ones! I broke the first wrench, then went out and bought another. Broke that. Then i found a couple of old ones in a tool box - broke those! It WILL NOT BUDGE!
Any ideas? I need to get the bike on the road again, because my first oly's next week and i want to get in my last brick this weekend!
Cheers
