Night Before Race DINNER
Depends on the race.
I can only tell you what works for me.
Usually I eat my big pre-race meal in the afternoon the day before the race @ 4:00 or 5:00. Later on I have a snack. lots of good carbs for the week leading up...(well I eat good carbs alot...all the time.) :) Pastas, salad, fruit, breads. I stick to the bland stuff. Nothing spicey that may keep me up. Eat what you know the day and night before...don't try something new.
That's for longer races (ultras, HIM and up, hammer centuries.)
For sprints and olys, I eat normally.
Good luck and let us know how you do!

Hello Tikal:
Well I totally agreed with Anton, have your big meal around 4 or 5...I would say no later than 6, so your GI will have plenty of time to digest...
I would say stay away from diary products...particulary milk...because can cause you bloating and gas...
I am a carb lover, so I usually go for good pasta, or pizza...particulary pizza topped with chicken or turkey...I ove to have plenty my day before a race.
Sport drinks can also give you a good set of carbs, so having one with your dinner is good too.
Just don´t go crazy and try new things the night before your race...that is just to risky my friend.
Best of luck!!!

I usually eat some Barilla plus pasta with some marinara sauce, grilled chicken breast, and a salad. I drink some gatorade endurance to wash it down.
I try and take a walk after dinner to help with digestion.
Just before bed I drink some Ensure, a meal replacement shake.
Nothing to it, but to do it
I like a good sized lunch - be sure to minimize fat and fiber. Pasta with marinara and a little bit of chicken is a good choice. Then I have a light mostly liquid dinner - yogurt, applesauce, skim milk, oj... Then its all liquids til after the race for me.
It depends on what you can tolerate. Dairy doesn't cause me any problems, but if I have fat, fiber or even too much protein then I can count on a case of eid. Others can tolerate different stuff though - I've had my dad drink a can of bubbly diet pepsi in the car on the way to a 5k running race (just the thought of all those bubbles 10 min before a race make me sick) and then beat me...
Good luck!
I NEED pizza before a race. I've tried other foods, and it just wasn't the same as my lucky pizza dinner the night before. (I should order with less cheese, but I also use lots of crushed red pepper...two no-no's from what I hear). Its also fun finding new pizza places in foreign countries :D
