My first oly's in two weeks, and the place that rents tri-wetsuits sold all of their rentals and won't have any more in before the race. They seem to be the only place in Dublin that rent tri-wetsuits (if anyone knows of another please tell me!). They don't have anymore wetsuits for me to buy either, but the guy said to try again a few days before the race, i "might" be lucky.
So i've a bit of a problem since the water on the day's gonna be pretty cold. My options are these:
I can buy a 3mm windsurfing wetsuit for €100, renting the tri-wetsuit was €50, so i guess that's no too bad.
My brother has a 3mm windsurfing wetsuit, but it's a bit small, and i open the zip by just squeezing my shoulders together.
A friend also has a 3mm one, but he has a 35inch chest, whereas i'm a 40inch, so i assume it won't fit me. i've to look at it later today and see how it goes.
I can wait and see if i'm "lucky" and get a proper tri wetsuit (rental/purchase, it doesn't matter)
I can wear shorts.
I'm worried that if i wait too long, all of the 3mm wetsuits in that shop will sell out too, and then i'll be truly screwed, so i'm gonna have to make a move soon.
So my question really is this: is a tight wetsuit worse than wearing one at all? will a 3mm windsurfing wetsuit be okay if i buy one that fits?
Sorry for the essay, but swimming's my weakest area and i don't want to make things worse by wearing something that doesn't fit, or just wearing shorts and freezing my muscles into cramp!
Thanks for reading!
