Well, sure if I had $7K to spend.
(I believe that is what I saw as the ballpark for the proposed price)

The B2 and the S22 also get makeovers.... (and they are VERY reasonably priced)...

I saw that DA writeup and pic in triathlete magazine last night. Wow. Two things popped out:

1. placement of the brake calipers way down behind the cranks instead of up by the seatstay/seat tube joint. Felt is claiming a 4% aero advantage results (dunno if that is with or without a rider).

2. Without pedals, the entire bike plus wheels weighs 17 lbs.

That plus the Zipp 808s as spec. Now that's a bike you can race out the door!

I don't think I would ever be worthy of that bike. (though a man can dream...)

That bike is incredibly hot. I love the all black.
However, if I had the $ it would be hard to say no to a P3.
Especially with those Zipps on it.

That bike is damn sexy!!

I am partial to the Cervelo, and if I was going to get another bike I would upgrade from my P2 SL to the P3 but this could make me stray...;)

I definitely feel it. Matt is sponsored by Felt so hopefully he'll get one that I can drool over as I eat my breakfast in the morning.

wow! that's an intimidating bike! very cool!

side question: i see it goes up to 60cm. i have a 63 cm felt road frame. because of aero position would i use a smaller frame or am i just screwed for a tri bike if they top out at 60cm? [...not that this bike is in my budget in any way, shape or form...]

I saw that in Triathlete and immediatley became arroused! Maybe after I win the lottery or successfully rob every bank in the country I can add this bike to my small fleet. Felt should make it mandatory that you must average a certain speed before you can purchase the bike or make it like the movie "Speed" where the bike will explode if it goes under 15mph.

I dont like it much. Looks like a lot of excess material to me. The Scott Plasma is 17 pounds WITH pedals. I wouldnt say no if some one wanted to GIVE me one, but I'd take a cervelo or Scott over that bike.

i wanted a DA last year or the year before and there was some weird stuff with FELT as in the US dealers could not carry the DA .... not sure what that was all about.

I hate to sound negative, but I think carbon fiber is not all its cracked up to be. Check THIS out:

http://www.griffenbike.com/

Read about what it is made of. I personally weighed this frame and the P3 Carbon frame...the Griffen weighed 4/10th lb. heavier. THAT'S IT. And this frame will never break. Everyone I know that learns about this bike buys one. (provided they can afford one...they are not cheap.)

My buddy rides a Griffen. They can break, and ride is fairly harsh, too. I will say this: the dudes at Griffen are behind their product 100%. They replaced the entire rear end of his bike when he had a problem and gave him a whole new paint job. Nice bike. I would never buy one at that price point.

They definitely are good with the paint jobs the last couple years. i like the simple colors on the p3c and pc2. Very nice bikes.

It BROKE??...I'm shocked...and a rough-ride?...I hadn't heard that from anyone. Well, at least they stand behind their product. So what's the altrernative?...carbon? I don't trust carbon either...not for the long haul. Titanium?

Ti rocks! Carbon is fine. There's a ton of early Trek OCLV frames being ridden daily for over 8 years now.

But yes, the seat tube developed some problems. Sent it in and they fixed it for free. Actually put the new vulcan rear end on it (his was a slightly older Metamic.) Nice company to deal with, its just IMHO that the product doesnt match the price in terms of refinments. The rear wheel cut out isnt that close, external routing on the cables, regular seatpost. Some people might like the simplicity, but I think the $$ is a bit much for an alloy. Spending that much dough on a Ti bike is more attractive an option to me.

First of all...if I had a boat load of money to spend it wouldn't be on a bike.
Second, If I had a boat load of money to spend ON A BIKE it would be Pinarello,Merlin,Alpine(if they still make 'em), or a Merckx.
I'm with jsoder...don't trust carbon. Love Aluminium. truth be known the best rides I EVER had were on Steel.
Remember...It ain't the bike.it's the motor.

Anton, I always tell myself it is the motor, but it is a little frustrating when someone passes me with ease on their hot-knife, and I'm pedaling my land yacht. It might be the motor, but damn, I can't wait to even things up a little bit.

carbon / alum .... I always had a Alum bike frames ( QR Kilo , B2 FELT ) I just got on a QR Carbon frame.... I can say one thing. My Alum frames would always flex and I could feel it. The Carbon rig is super stiff and I would think that translates into less power being lost. If Alum was better trust me .... Lance and All Tour riders would be on Ti, Alum whatever was the best .... ! if they all switch to Alum I would go back but I just follow the big boys. They ride carbon present day !

you didn't figure in one variable there chris...

Those professionals neither buy their own bikes or give a crap if one breaks... they always have another waiting just 25 seconds behind in the chase vehicle...

not only that, but damn few pros ride the exact same bike frame all year... much less ride the same bike for multiple years...

from what I've seen/heard, pros are EXTRA hard on their equipment... (because there is always a newer item waiting when their current steed gives out)
