I have bag envy. I've been carrying my gear in a plastic bin which I have to cart back and forth to the truck. Zoot makes a couple, Akona makes one that is supposedly designed by racers, De Soto another, etc. The pictures don't really show the product so can anyone recommend a good bag for carrying all of the necessary gear for race day? Or just tell me to stay away from certain bags if you like. Thanks in advance.

I use a mesh duffle from a store here (MEC) that holds all the gear I need. I also have a clear dry stuff sac (used for kayaking) that I put the gear in on rainy days. IM races give you your gear bags so no choice there.

I used to keep all my gear in an Adidas duffel with a shoulder strap. The problem with that setup was that I couldn't wear the bag and ride my bike at the same time. I finally broke down and picked up the TYR transition backpack. It's quite roomy and holds everything nicely - it's a well designed bag. I can now ride out with my gear on those frequent occasions when the car is parked far away from the transition area.

I have an Akona. Wife uses a TYR. I wish I had bought a TYR--they're big and comfy.

I use my Puma soccer bag. Has a shoulder strap, but I just loop the hand straps over my shoulders. It easily carries everything I need.

I have a DeSoto bag that I use for commuting races and general travel. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I picked up a Novara bike bag on sale at REI a while back. It has a separate compartment for smelly shoes, a fleece-lined pouch for a helmet, various pockets for water bottles, gels, goggles, etc., and straps for a floor pump. The main compartment fits my wetsuit with two folds. It served me very well last weekend!

Hmmm....reading through the description...I haven't found that hidden compartment yet. It must be hidden well!!

I use a cheap REI XL mesh duffel (wetsuit, 2 pr shoes, helmet, kitchen sink, outboard motor, etc). I also toss a backpack inside with a change of clothes for shower-time - so I don't have to lug the entire thing into a post-race locker room.

I love this roomy & airy setup. I think a pricey Tri-bag is too limited and says "steal me".

I have one of the $130 Zoot bags, which I won in a raffle at a 5k :D

It's awesome, and I can't imagine going to a tri without it. Room for everything, wetsuit compartment, helmet compartment, cel phone storage, and very very comfy. Would I have paid the $130 before knowing how much I love it? Probably not. Would I replace it if it were lost or stolen? Yes.
