I got hit by a car at 80km/hr, almost a T-bone standing to cross the street while on my bike. So, I know what you're going through. On my second life too. The dreams/nightmares go after a while and the pain subsides too (in time). Be happy you are alive. It sounds like a mess, but keep the faith. You'll be back on the bike in no time. Hope you're finally sleeping a bit from the physical and mental pains. All the best for a speedy recovery.

Heal quickly and well. Sounds like you survived a hairy accident! Your friends and family are wonderful people.
On a different note, I hope the putz is being held responsible.
Anton: I don't think adding Ti to the body of the racer makes him go any faster.

I am so sorry Rob and wish you a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with you, take care, be patient.
Who needs a man when you have a Kuota Kalibur to wrap your legs around.
oh my gawd....
Dude that is a hell of a hit man. I hope the guy in the uhual fries.... I can sympathize with you. When I was 6, 2days before my bday I crossed a street on my little kmart special bike with out looking and got leveled by a jeep. The only reason I survived that one was I landed in a Dr's ditch in front of his house so he was able to get my heart going again. MediVac choppers took me to the hospital and turned out ok after a few weeks. Then 2 years ago April 04 I was racing sportbikes (crotch rockets) at summit point raceway in WV. I was in a turn when some one couldn't hold their line and hit me. I was dead from that one as well and got in another heli ride (i didn't regain consiousness for a full week though so I don't remember it.)
Anyways the reason I am saying this is you can always come back rely on your support group (family) and be strong brother...
Que Terrible!!!
Wow, my friend, what a terrible accident...
I wish you all the best, for you heal quick, and to be back in action...
HOpe you get better soon.

Wish you all the best and a quick recovery! Don't worry about the half in Miami...there's always next year. Sorry to hear a fellow South Floridian going through this kind of stuff. Thank god that you were wearing a helmet!

So I've been out of commission for 3 weeks. Well 2 days after I got back from vacation (August 2), and heading back from my first job in Vero Beach I had a putz hauling a 20ft U haul trailer clip the front of my motorcycle. I had just enough time to jump off the bike at 75-80 mph and tuck and roll. So what are the injuries?
Compound fracture (exposed) of the left femur just above the knee, had about a hand size section of my thigh turned into roast beef with a bone sticking out of it.
Multiple minor fractures in the upper portion of the same femur.
Road rash all over, but my right shoe somehow came off and I got road rash down to the bone on the ball of my foot.
I hyper extended my right leg ripping my quad muscles in my right thigh, and completely ripping open my right groin area exposing my intestines. (40 staples fixed it).
Fractured ribs, collapsed right lung, sprained left shoulder, almost broke my right hand.
Thank god for helmets. I was conscious the whole time, and the first impact was on my left knee and that is why I fractured the left femur so bad, but other then that I had 5-6 just massive impacts to my head as I was rolling. I was soooooooo happy I had my helmet. They almost had to cut it off my head because it was so smashed and misshaped.
Well I don't really know the condition of the bike. What I do know is thank god for my friends and family. I am a strong ****ing man, but losing 1/3 of your blood and almost both your legs, well, it has certainly challenged that strength. To know that you did nothing wrong and everything right, and you still came so close to dying, It was also amazing to be conscious through the whole thing and in high spirits at least until I got to the hospital and the adrenalin wore off. But when that happened I looked up and saw this amazing circle of friends, and I can't express in words how close I was to breaking from the pain and how big of a difference those friends made in pulling me through.
Well right now I'm doing pretty well. My right foot is still healing from the really deep road rash and I have this steel cage around my left leg. This Monday I am having my 5th surgery, and this one they will remove the cage and plate my femur w/ half a dozen screws to secure everything. I will then be discharged in a couple of days for a long rehab with friends that are taking me in to help me though the next couple of months.
I'm in relatively high spirits and figured I'd let everyone know why I'd been so quiet for so long. Thanks everybody for their support and I'll be back in no time (I'm already racing the old men on the walkers, and managed to get my hands on a wheelchair today.) I don't think my goal of my first Half Ironman in Miami is going to happen know, but I've promised myself I'm gonna push PT as hard as possible and make it back as soon as possible. Thanks again.
