Finding someone to draft

Rather than try to find a person to draft, just target the next person you want to pass and spot another one after that. Once you spot a person you want to pass but can't, that will be who you will be drafting.

Latch on to the closest swimmer you can. I preferred to get in between two swimmers my head positioned about midbodiy of the other swimmers not behind them. They should be about the same speed as you or a little faster.
Does anyone have any suggestions for locating good people to draft behind during an open water swim? The last race I was had a hard time drafting because the person I chose didn't swim very straight. Any suggestions for finding someone that swims straight and smooth?
