Carb craving during recovery week?

I'm in a recovery week, and all week I've been craving carbs like crazy! All I have want is cereal, pizza, bagels, PB&J, oatmeal, fruit, etc. Is that normal during a down week? It seems that since I'm training less this week, I'd feel less hungry...but its almost the opposite. Any thoughts?

Everything but the pizza sound ok, want to avoid all that saturtade fat and salt. :). Your body is responding to your recovery by loading up on what it's been burning, that's all.

Same for me here.
During my big weeks, I eat very lean and mean without too much effort...
But during my recovry weeks, I can't live without eating every minute! All I do is thinking about food.
When the big weeks return, my appetite is back to "normal".

Sounds strange!

It's possible to OD on carbs during heavy training cycles, then you get used to that constant intake and when you have a rest period, that is what your body craves. I believe that intense carb craving can signal a lack of protein in my diet, and that once I up the protein, I get back to a more balanced diet where I am taking in just enough carbs to support my training.

YMMV
