I'm so psyched.. I have a race on Sunday, tomorrow will be spent do some good quality lazying around (justifed by calling it a "taper") and NBC is going to be gracious enough to air the Ironman tomorrow afternoon to help psyche me up for the race- PERFECT!:D

That's great! I wish NBC or any other network would air every Ironman race - not just the Kona World Championship. I can't imagine it would draw a smaller audience than figure skating or golf.

Its being aired at 3:30 Eastern time- didn't say what time in the central time zone though. Check your local listings. (Ah I feel like commercial saying that!):D

I'd have to say I'm disappointed (why am I surprised?) that it's been so difficult to confirm the airing of this race via web search. NBC's website shows NO TRACE of there being a triathlon today. Apparently, in NBC's opinion, our sport ranks below all other "sports," including dog shows, the WNBA, and especially the "World Series of Poker!" Ironman.com also shows no indication of a televised race on NBC. I can only hope you're right, and that it'll air at 2:30 central time! Thanks for the heads up.

I went to Yahoo! TV listings and looked up the air time on the local NBC station. I would suspect that NBC's website would just be adds for their new fall series TV shows that are going to suck, but they are going to try and get millions of people to watch anyway.

TvGuide.com. The NBC site sucked big time. 3:30 EST

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Yup I got the bug.

I just got back from a run and still have my heartrate monitor on. I was resting at about 67 and then they showed the start of the swim and my HR jumped to 88.

Wow- that was so inspiring!!! They spent alot of time focusing on the race between the pro athletes. But what really interested me were the shots of the everyday folk- mothers, fathers, people with jobs, the guy who's goal was to be the oldest Ironman finisher, the guy who finished despited having ALS and the woman who finished running on her prostetic leg- those were the stories that interested me. Call me a softie- but I was bawling watching that footage, watching those people achieve what will most likely be the zenith of their athletic life- maybe even their whole life.

Too bat there isn't a smilie for "awe"...

2004's IMWC on NBC had the same girl, Sarah Reinertsen, on there. She missed the bike cut off and they wouldn't let her proceed. I don't usually get mushy but I teared up watching that one.

Big tears here too.
I taped the thing on saturday only because of Sarah.
Have to say that 2004´s transmition was more focused on the humanitarian side of the race though!!!

Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
