How hard to the pros push?

No IM is never done at LT. You would NOT survive very long. It's all AeT work from start to finish. The reason that they are able to go so fast is cause they have created a monster base and have worked on creating a high LT.

Cool, thanks BBB.
It just seems sometimes like those guys are hammering away on the bike. I guess they are, but with a low HR huh?
Crazy crazy pros...:p

I was just wondering something today. I imagine in the shorter races (olympic dist) the pro athletes are probably pushing the LT barrier, if not going over it, for most of the race. Is this the same for the Ironman distance pros?
The idea I got from reading Going Long was that most IM athletes try to aim for Aerobic threshold or so for the long races, but are the professionals doing the race near lactate threshold?
