Just a little note from the WSJ by way of Barry Ritholtz:

Quote:

-Trek Bicycle Corp., Cannondale Bicycle Corp., and Serotta Competition Bicycles, are considering 5% to 25% price increases.
-Seven Cycles raised prices 10% this year, and expects another rise for 2006-2007 models.

...

Carbon Fiber maker Zoltek Companies says they "keep prices lower for bigger customers by raising prices for smaller ones, such as bike and golf-club makers, who constitute 15% of his company's business. "We really jack up the price" for smaller customers, he says. He's passed on more of the 60% to 100% increases to sporting-goods customers."

In an odd and indirect way, Trek is subsidizing Boeing.

i am a big fan of Ritholtz's blog ... he is spot on the economy. I am eager to see the market meltdown.

And M2 Racer has gone under. Cant find the link. Thats too bad, as they had some cool stuff.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

this is too bad - it seems unusual that newer improved materials will become less available in the future than they are today. Maybe in a few years, Orbea will have to come out with a fully lugged steel tri frame.

That'd be fantastic! I'd buy it.

This is what I've heard as well. In addition, rumor has it that carbon prices will be rising substanially for '07 and beyond. I recently purchased a '06 carbon frameset, I didn't wait for the '07 model because a reliable source spoke of a $200-$300 hike in price.
