IMUK is 3 weeks from now, and counting. I'm only met one guy that competed, so I don't really know alot about the course. I was curious if anyone here has completed the course.
Swim - Water temps in the mid 60's. I will most def be in a full wetsuit. This being my first full IM, I don't know what to expect. I've completed 2 half IM's in May and June, and swim time was horrible, 45 and 47 mins. I am a better swimmer now, but I really don't know hwat to expect.
Bike - From what I understand it is a quite hilly bike course with 2300 meters of climbing. Both half IMs I completed were hilly bike courses and I've done 2 100 mile bike rides in the last 2 weeks, but now I'm tapering and focusing on speed work. Does anyone know what condition the roads are in over there?
Run - Being as this is my where my background is the strongest, I feel most comfortable about this portion. The real test will be seeing how the legs feel after 6+ hours on the bike. Maybe I should call it a shuffle.
Q's for some of you IM vets out there. Obviously keeping my heart rate low on the bike is a must, but how should I focus my climbing on a hilly course? I live in Charkeston SC and we have zero hills. Highest elevation are the bridges at 160 ft above sea level. Any tips to conserve energy on hilly courses? Thanks in advance!
