Lance Armstrong's Discovery team? does he own the team or do they just throw his name in there so people can recognize what they are talking about?

lance has a part ownership interest in it. Shows how desperate discovery is right now, they sign one almost over the hill star and may sign another that is aging and may not even be able to ride for another two years. They had it coming in my opinion. I am so glad Floyd gave them the snub.

Postal and Discovery built an entire team around one guy. In the process, their dictator, Lance, who I am not a fan of, drove away the most talented riders, i.e. a certain Floyd Landis because they weren't allowed to shine on that team. I have also heard that Lance is not the most pleasent individual to ride with, which doesn't surprise me, because to ride at the level (whether he was clean or not, I have no idea and me nor anybody else except him will ever know) that he did you have to have a certain drive and personality that doesn't really translate to the most pleasent personality. When Lance left, Discovery was nothing but a shell of good support riders programmed, trained and designed to support someone else, but the problem is that they didn't have anybody else. When you build your team around one guy, that is what happens.

Along with his team that was essential for his victories.. he was the best rider in the Tour de France ( not other races), and who ever said he had to be a nice person?
I'm a fan of Lance, I also heard from some people he was an ass to ride for. Ass or not, he got the job done ( along with his team that was trained to serve). Some people use dope and get caught, some people use dope and never get caught.
Seems to me wether Lance was or wasn't on dope, it didn't matter.
Everyone on dope, he won ( 7 times)
nobody on dope, he still won (7 times)

We must have read 2 different articles, the AP article I read Floyd said he wouldn't mind riding for Discovery "I wouldn't be opposed to going back,". Sure he would want to stay with his I-Share's team. They did the same thing USP and DSC did for Lance, build a team around him to win and he did just that.

i have been a jan ullrich fan since day one regardless of his constant disappointments. As good as Lance is, i have not been a fan of his. it would be anoying to cheer for ullrich while subconsciously cheering on lance and his team. i can't see ullrich in blue. i hope floyd stays with ishares. levi, who's team did he ride for anyways? he never had support and was always behind someone else's wheel.

How many times was the man tested?

seriously...how many times were ulrich, basso and the others who were booted tested? The only reason all those guys on the tour were busted was because they found the doctor's documents which had their names on them. The test can be beat, why do you think there are such detailed schedules of when to take what? I am not saying Lance dopes or not, but just because you don't test positive means nothing. Ulrich had apparently been involved with the doctor for quite some time, and I can't ever remember him testing positive.

Here is the way i look at things...i dont know lance personally nor do i pretend to know everything about him but i have read a lot of books about him and interviews and been following him closely for the last two years....he is so ultra-competitive that i dont think he would have doped....now i know that sounds backwards. but here is my reasoning...he wants to be better than everyone. if he had doped, he would not know if he was better than anyone. i know this may be weird logic and hard to understand but i think his make-up of uber-competitivenes wouldnt allow him to dope to win, it would be tearing him up now.

I think that anyone who doesn't dope will not stand a chance of winning at least one stage.

You gotta be kidding!

Postal/Discovery has been the training ground for virtually all of the U.S. TdF cyclists (and many others) for the the last 8 years. Sure, most of them went to other teams --- they've all thought they have a shot at winning it, and that wasn't going to happen on Lance's team.

Lance is a winner, and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't want guys like Floyd, Jan and Levi riding for his team. Of course right about now, its looking like the first two might not be riding for a while.

Do you really think Lance "Hollywood" Armstrong would want a rider stealing his limelight? I don't think so. That team was all about him and that's fine cause they got the job done and won, which is the ultimate goal, but it was all about him. What I can't stand is people who treat Lance like he is some sort of saint, but let me make something clear: I think Lance is a great cyclist, but I also think that in his world, it is all about him. And Yes, I am aware of the livestrong foundation.

Duh! He's an elite athlete. Show me an elite athlete, who when it comes to their sport, DOESNT make it all about themselves. It takes that focus and drive, some might call it self centered-ness, to stay at the top. All elite level athletes are about as cocky as it some. Some are just more vocal about it. Some put on a pretty face and kiss butt for the public and others don't. Dont think for a moment that Ullrich, Basso, Landis, and all the others arent self centered and egotistical.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

triguy ... i was going to say the same thing. in fact i know i have around here. wesmeyer11 , what is your point ? Lance was a winner who used his team to win. That was the goal and everyone riding for lance was well aware he was the boss. In the real world there are plenty of managers with the same mentality. It is a way of life. If and when a pack member feels the leader is weak that is when you strike. Lance never got weak, hence all his minions stayed in line.
