My QR just seems to bother me too soon. Have heard there are some aftermarket saddles that are more comfortable. I am looking for suggestions and price you paid. Thanks for the info.

I have a Fi'Zik Arione Tri. Love it. Used it for IM and barely got any saddle sore or discomfort, however my riding position tends to be just on the nose of the saddle, thus not much of my arse is ever touching it directly.

These saddles are a little pricey at aroun 125 -150, but its a saddle. I think it would be wiser to buy a good saddle than carbon bars.

Also, I heard the Fi'Zik arione for mountain biking is a good option cause it ahs more padding. Dunno, let's see what others have to say.

Another vote for the Fi'Zik Arione Tri - Being a tri saddle it has a little longer nose - allowing for great positioning and comfort. I do 6+ hour rides without any issues.

I got a Specialized Body Works saddle for Xmas last year which has turned out to be an amazing saddle. No soreness after 3-4 hour rides, good cushioning for bumps but solid enough that it doesn't put pressure on any sensitive parts (the saddle that came with my bike had too much give and it made my crotch numb).

A comfortable saddle is probably one of the most important parts on your bike, so spend a little extra if you have to.

Fizik Arione Tri. Have it on my tri and road bike. Going for something a little smaller on the road bike, so I'm ditching it, but I absolutely love it on my tri bike. I got it on sale at all3sports.com about 6 months ago for $100. It does take about 500 miles to break in, but after that, it all good. Give it a try, but know that everyone has a different bum, so no guarantees.

Have met several people now who have bought and used this saddle. I am yet to buy one, (function of money), but everyone has said the same thing. Zero pain. I mean, nada, zilch, complete relief. :D

Here is their website:

And here is an article from slowtwitch:

Last week I took a friend (newbie) to the LBM to help him pick out a new saddle. Money is not a problem for him...he can afford whatever he wants. They put the bike on a trainer and tried 4 different saddles, including the new Selle which costs $240. He kept coming back to the Adamo. His only complaint was that his hip bones were a little sore, but I chalk that up to him being brand-new. As far as crotch pain goes though, none.

I like the theory behind the Blackwell Adamo. Anybody else given the Adamo a try?

I get some numbing going on as soon as 8 to 10 miles right now. I usually ride with the nose of my seat on the right side of center (hanging off to the left side of the seat). Sitting right in the middle just doesn't happen for me. I wish I could get more "used to" the saddle. I can't find enough time in the saddle as I would like or need to with work schedule and family life. I hear people saying they are totally comfortable when riding - it's hard for me to comprehend that concept. Hopefully a new saddle will fix me up.

Thanks for the input so far.

I went through no fewer than 4 saddles this Spring when I switched from road bike to tri bike. I ended up using the one that came with my bike, a Selle San Marco Aspide, but adding a DeSoto neoprene cover. Without the cover, I was good for 30 miles or so on the nose. With it, I've done 90+ with no problems.

my friend, i feel your pain...well, i mean, i felt your pain. i just got a new ride (check it out in this forum!) but i also got a new saddle. OLIVER's CYCLE SPORTS in tampa suggested the SMP Strike saddle. i know it looks painful, and the men's titanium version (which costs over $230!) looks even worse. but i am here to tell you that it is incredible! i suffered pain and smashing in the saddle way too long, but this one has the long hole and the bent nose that allows blood flow through the pubic region :o . Check out their website at http://www.sellesmp.com/en/default.htm for more detailed info. give it a try!

i have 5 bikes (2 mtb, 1 road, 1 tri, 1 dirt jump) and all of them are fitted w/ various specialized bg saddles - toupe, alias, etc. awesome seats. why? they come in 2 and sometimes 3 sizes. they measure your sit bones and that determines your size. the saddles are sweet.

i have the toupe on my p2 sl. it looks kinda thin, but it is light and it is so comfortable. i've done a few sprint tris, tt races against myself and the livestrong century ride all w/ the toupe and i love it. didn't have any issues w/ comfort until mile 80, and that was probably because every muscle in my body started cramping. ;)

i've done a few epics on the alias and again, a phenomenal saddle.

i haven't seen too many toupes on tri bikes because i haven't seen them marketed for tri bikes.

i had a fizik aeron tri on the p2 sl before. after my 1st 30 mile ride i replaced it w/ the toupe. i'm gonna put the fizik up on ebay as soon as i get around to it....

good luck!

Just got a profile tri stryke, going to give it a shot, if it doesn't keep my bits and pieces from going numb may have to try that adamo thing

Just got back from a 100k or so, saddle is pretty comfortable, defiently no numbness, took a bit of getting used to all the padding but overall, pretty happy

Would recommend it as a low cost option

so far so good, no numbness at all. Still getting used to the rounded shape of the nose (my old saddle selle italia SLR had a very flat nose) but overall I think its going to work out really well. Looking forward to getting some centuries in on it in the next month to see how I hold up with it on longer rides.
