Anyone running this set up? If so, do you like it? It has always been my feeling that when if I am braking I should be on the horns and not in the aero position, because more likely than not I am descending fast and going through corners. Just wanted some thoughts on that. I have seen them starting to pop up here and there.

There is a product that adds a brake lever (or two) on your aero bars so you can brake in aero position. The existing levers on the bullhorns remain in place and these add on to the existing setup. I think one lever can add some degree of safety but for the most part, I haven't felt a need for this yet. I stay on the horns during descents and when things get curvy and get on the aeros when there's wide open straightaways ahead.

If you're going to run brake levers strictly on the aeros then I would concider it to be a dangerous setup. You don't want to be blazing down a hill at 40-50 mph and try to control the bike from the aero bars while braking. HED offers a thrid brake lever without sacrificing the bullhorn set. http://www.hedcycling.com/aerobars/thirdbrake.php
Also read about CSC setup that they're mechs put together. http://www.velonews.com/tech/report/articles/8100.0.html

I got mine and you can't have it back!

The brakes are on the horns because you have more steering control in that position. Something you need when slowing and stopping. :D

Nothing to it, but to do it

guys, guys, guys, and gals...I am not a total moron, just a slight one. Of course I have levers on the horns and don't intend to take them off anytime soon. But, if you look at some of the TT'rs in the tour, they are running a third break lever from the horn, usually for the right hand. Sorry, I guess my post was a little unclear.

Ok, here's the scoop. I have a Rear Brake on my Aero bars, it's made by J-Brake...

The LBS installed it for me, it includes a brake lever that installs on a longer bolt on the shift lever, and a cable splitter between the rear brake lever on the cowhorn, and the rear brake.

Since the lever is shorter, you don't get all of the braking power that you get from the regular brake, but it does work enough to keep you under control.

I'll post a review later this week when I get home, and get the web site published too. So far, I love it.....
