I just bought a used Fuji Aloha tri bike, and although I intend to get the bike fitted, I have been messing around with it on my own.

For those with experience, could you please take a look at the photo posted here: http://frankielunch.blogspot.com/

The top pic is from bikesportmichigan.com from their fitting section.

The bottom pic is me. I actually took a straight edge and drew the same lines through that pic, and I can scan that in later.

But just looking at the two pics, how do I look in comparison?

I feel ok on the bike. I am 5'8" 172 lbs on a 56 cm Fuji Aloho with a Fizik Arione Tri saddle

You look like you are pointing your toe at the ground, thus your seat is too high. You want to be able to have a flat foot at the bottom of your pedal stroke (6 o'clock), you get more power that way. You could get lower in front by removing spacers and probably flipping the stem. Overall, you look pretty good. When you get that fitting, see if they have a machine (something like a cyclops indoor trainer/ fitting thing) that has a power meter. You should be able to get set up in a bunch of different positions and measure your wattage. Whichever has the best (highest) wattage at the same intensity level is the right position for you.

same as glbrum, also you may need to move your seat about 5mm or so foward. Of couse down as well. if your body can take the stress i would say to move the angle of your aerobars down so your forearms are paralell to the ground, more aerodynamic, but it can cause back and neck stress.

nice wall, im tired of all these pics with a blank wall in the background. i have the same printer as you!

I tried to mimic the position of the girl in the original photo as best I could, although I am aware of that my feet should be flatter.

I actually had a loose fitting done my LBS owner. He's an old time trialer from way back when. He only charged me $25 for the fitting but one of the things he suggested was adding spacers and the stem to bring me up a bit, because I was having some problems with the "boys" in the aero position. His changes helped tremendously.

I am going to another shop tomorrow to have a real fit done by a Serotta guy. They will get me dialed in. They fit me on my last road bike. This was more of an exercise to get this bike, which I just bought (used) about a week ago, fitted for a sprint race I have Saturday
