I think I am getting a mild case of plantar fasciitis and wanted to see how some of you who have experienced this kind of pain modified your run workouts. Should I do more speed work(less overall time running)? Any help would be much appreciated, I don't want to lose much training, I have a half in about a month.

I had a moderate case which I stretched & iced to some relief but not total. I ended up going to foot doctor and getting orthotics which, in time, healed the problem. I would reccomend calf stretches before and after running, more after. Then Ice for 20 minutes, but let your feet warm up after icing before jumping back up. You can also massage the ligament running from your heel to the balls of your feet. Other than that, you've got to go to the Doctors. You can reduce inflamation with Ibuprofin 800 mg 3x a day but that is a short term cure & can mess with your gut. Check with a Doc before taking that advice...Good Luck

Painful thing...
I had plantar fascitis a year ago....It really hurt particulary after I finished a half marathon last year...
I used some cushioned orthotics in my running shoes...It really really help. Also I did some in home therapy, with warm inmersions of my foot in water....some massage...every night for a few weeks...and for the first 5 days, I took some NSAIDS and I has been gone for quite some time now....
