First off, let me say, if anyone ever gets the chance ot see this race they should!!! This was a really spectator friendly event! Also it was the International Cahpionships for PC (Physically Challenged) athletes and watching them was amazing!

So the NYC Tri was a really interesting race.... this was the first race I've ever done which seemed more like an event, than just a tri.

Swim.... ehh! First off the Husdon is pretty dirty...no sh..t right? It is salt water, and it was about half way through the swim I realized one cant see anything in it... usually you can see a part if your arm, and maybe another swimmers feet it you try hard, but the Hudson...nothing.... just grey. As far as taste, if ocean water tastes like salt and live fish a bit, the hudson tastes like salt and dead fish. Not great but the current makes for a fast expirience in the water!

If anyone asks what the worst part is.... it's the last 100-200 feet where the water floor is within hand's reach... if feels disgusting... like mashed potatos.

T1 was BAD.... got out quick from the swim and first thing was to rinse out my mouth with gatorade... i didn't drink any until the begining of the bike.
I ran out of T1 only to mount the bike, ride 40 feet and realize my front wheel was flat... ****! I quickly turned back and ran back to T1 where there was some tech support. Switched out the front tube which would cost me around 4 mins.

The bike was amazing.... the pothole thing is a myth... maybe if you can't see more than 5 feet up the road, but Jersey streets aren't as nice. I was surprised to see that the course was pretty rolling, with a few decent accents.

T2... . 2 guys in my group passed me and ran out the first mile down 72nd street in like a 5:30 pace(it may have been all the people cheering)...screw that i thought... I found this guy from tri life i would pace up to mile 5. At mile 2 i realized we were holding a good pace... . Another thing i found on mile 2 was the 2 guys who passed me at T2... 1 vomiting, the other was easy to pass... i accelerated, and he felt back.

Wasn't sure what to expect... kind of went in without expectations... and it made for a really confortable day. So here's the goods:

Swim: 20:10 --Rank 14th
T1: 3:51
Bike: 1:14.11 --Rank 8th
T2: 2:10
Run: 43:18 --Rank 6th

TOTAL TIME : 1mileswim/25milebike/6.5 milerun

2:23:37
5th in age group.
...
not to bad considering the flat... which took just under 4 min.

Thanks alot.... yea it was a really great race, and alot of fun. Sometimes the pricey fees are worth it.
