Racing with road rash
I volunteered at the Alpharetta Ironkids triathlon this weekend and one of the 9 year old girls there had (what I would call) severe road rash down her left leg, along her left side, left shoulder, left elbow and a bit of "cheese grating" on the left side of her forhead..
she had the bad areas covered with a 2"X4" bandaid that didn't cover (i.e. stuck to the scabs) and a bit of neosporin...
but then again she WAS a 9 year old girl...
(just thought I'd share that with everyone)

i drown the wound in Bettadine, it's an iodine disinfectant and bacteria killer, then use wither Newskin or a huge bandaid, if you are really serious take some time in T1 to change the dressing just to be sure, you may loose some time but it's better than gangreene......or something....LOL
Speed Kills. Strength Punishes

Hi all,
I had an unfortunate crash the week before last, and while most of my road rash has pretty much healed up, the worst of it on my elbow has not yet. It's a small (about dime-sized) spot that's still white-ish inside. I have one of my few races of the season coming up on Saturday, but I'm hesitant to have lake water in direct contact with this wound. My idea was to use liquid bandaid, NewSkin, or something else to seal out the water. Does anyone have experience with this or other approaches?
