Hey all...

Sprint duathlete here, getting ready to make the jump into my first tri. I have been persuing wetsuits online, and I certainly cant afford nor do I want to spend upwards of $300 on a wetsuit.

I noticed that the Sports Authority sells wetsuist by companies like Execute and Jetfuel. Listed thickness for both the Execute Venom (full wetsuit) and the Jetfuel S1 is 3x2 mm.

Each suit cost around $100. Heres my question: the websites (both the Sports Authority and the manufacturer's) dont give any indication as to the whether the suit is suitable for swimming. Judging by the products on each website, it looks each is more suited to water sports (wake-boarding, etc).

So, my question is, does anyone else own these suits and can you offer me some real world feedback?

hey Fiveten.

I'm a sprint newbie, and bought a Zoot Z2 (full length, sleeveless). I highly recommend it. $190 retail at a store, $185 w/ free shipping at a few online shops. I tried it as a demo at a local pool. VERY nice, and I wouldn't turn back.

With that type, you get the bouyancy of a full suit, but you get to feel the water by having it be sleeveless.

Good luck!

Jet.

I just bought a Nineteen Sleeveless, $195 retail. Great bouyancy. I actually rented the suit first for $40, then they just applied that money toward the purchase of the suit. If you're looking to save some bucks and only plan on doing one or two tri's, try that route and see if some shops in your area rent them.
