Tire Advice?

Alright it's time for some new tires. I have about 2000 miles on my stock Bontrager Select's and I am looking for a new set of tires (700X23). I want something lightweight that won't break the bank. I'm not a pro athlete so I figure whatever I get I will be training and racing with.

I am calling on the good people of Trifuel for some advice. What kind of tires do you all use?

I have been happy with my Michelin Pro2Race tires. I found them for a pretty good price new on ebay. They're fairly light and strong clinchers. They even come in colors if you want to add that extra look.

Posted this a few minutes ago - and then mine and a couple others went poof....
Michelin Pro2Race - race and train on these. Have had good luck with them.

Ok, odd-- my post is gone too! :(
Pro2 Race gets my vote

I concur with the Michelin Pro2 Race. No problems for the last year. Try Bike Tires Direct for a pretty good price ($36)

RV & Brittda,

Same here!

I'll restate: I've had good luck with the Vittoria Rubino Pro. Decent weight, solid puncture resistance, and good traction in all conditions. I road my last set about 3,000 mi. with only one flat, right at the end of their useful life. Should be a good choice for training and racing on the same tire.

Great grip. Specialized makes great tires. The shape of them give you more surface area when you turn.

I used to ride on (train and race) Continental GP 3000's. Got over 3,000 miles - no flats. Recently, I replaced them with Conti's new 4000's. They supposed to be even better. You can check them out @

I've got the continental Grand Prix 4000's and Love 'em...
good traction in the dry and the wet..
higher puncture resistance (why I had to replace my tires to begin with)

and I got them on ebay for about $70/set...
