Tri training on ramen noodles and a glazed donut
I have had some days where food intake wasnt exactly optimal. My semi- fix for that is to pop a gel immediately before training. You'll be tired as heck afterwards, but a run of up to 45- 60 minutes is doable. Just dont make it habit, and make sure your recovery intake is proper.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Lol, I really have changed my diet since I started really hitting my HIM training, but the other day I had a reminder of why diet is sooo important.Had a 12 hour workday, plus about another 10 hours of school work including an abs. fascinating 15 page analysis of the Banking Industry (*gag*). Well running low on sleep and time, I ate a package of ramen noodles prior to heading for class because I was abs. starving. During class (while someone else is analyzing Krispey Creme and the donut industry lol) I managed to snag a glazed donut.
You forgot the booze

Don't know why I'm such a contrarian when it comes to Rob's posts --- that's just the way it is.
Regardless of the science, all I know is that I had two or three great rides last year on days that I had downed several Dunkin' donuts that someone brought to the office. Definitely not a good idea every day, but it just goes to show you.

The recovery intake was key. The next two days (after alot of recovery food and rest) went great. I just find humor in my occasional misstep and how my body chooses to correct my mind.
Rides on several dunkin donuts may be alright. I had one donut and a package of ramen noodles lol. For the whole day. I'm the type of guy where I stuff myself with food non stop to be able to maintain training, normally last bite is at midnight just before bed, and then when I wake up at 6-8 I'm starving once again.
I'll remember the gel tip Triguy, thanks.
Oh and hitman I don't mind the contrarian view point, its nice to have an opposing view point most times. If you are ever down here in the Central Florida area feel free to say hi and I'll join you for a race. :)

Gotta go get some bike gear. I think I've decided to do some oly's in the area in preparation for my first HIM in Nov. but it certainly steps up the pace of my train/race schedule.

Of course not wanting to miss my dutiful daily workout I decided to press ahead. Swim sucked, but was manageable. But the run I wanted to quit after the 1st mile, but a buddy showed up and I managed to make the full 5 mile 'easy' run.
Even that turned out to be a mistake as I got home collapsed from exhaustion, and woke up the next morning feeling like i had been run over from what was supposed to be an easy day.
Needless to say no more days running on crap wanna be asian food, and some good old american junk food. Although I suppose somewhere around mile 3 I did get the felling of what 'bonking' feels like lol. How's that for specificity.
