Do you come from a running, ridding or biking background?

longer rides
Which is what I was going to say :). I was a distance runner coming into tri's so knew I could run a 6:10 10K all day, so i focused on being able to do a 25 mile ride in just over an hour if the course was flat enough. Getting fast on the bike is important, so trade some of those running miles for bike miles and start doing some bricks to get you legs used to the change over.

Run off the bike every chance you get...even if it's only for 10 to 20 minutes

Thanks for the response. I am primarily a runner. 60+yrs. Can swim 1.5K 30ish, bike is Cervelo and I can average 18mph thru the rolliing hills here. I think I should be faster. Race the 10K 42ish and can't seem to get any faster. I guess I'll spend more time on the bike. The big plan is to work up to Ironman in two years.
Yeah, work on trying to get that bike speed up a bit. I do a 25 mile ride locally that has both rolloing hills and 2 decent climbs and descents where I try and average 21mph.

I'm new to this but am getting ready for an Olympic distance in late August. Just wondering how many miles I should be doing in each discipline weekly. Right now I'm riding about 100 miles, running about 40 and swimming about 4. I have no hard schedule but am mixing them up quite a bit. Rides are usually about 20 mi, runs no shorter than 8 mi and swims are usually 1K to 1mi. I welcome any advice.
