No chamois in the trisuit
The problem is...you rarely see anyone in a tri suit at an Ironman. Can I have a show of hands for all those in favor of wearing a tri suit in an IM?
Shorter races yes...but IM? No. And a tri suit without even a wiff of padding? What were they thinking? For an IM I reccommend AT LEAST tri shorts or go bike shorts for that full comfort feel!
Feel free to slick yourself up with body glide...helps with the crotch chafe.
The pros are paid to be seen at races in tri suits but I have yet to see a pro in one at an IM.

Holy cow, that thing is $$$$$$ And no pad?!?! It doesnt mention one in the features column on the site, either. At first I was thinking that they may have accidently shipped you a swimsuit instead. Turns out they are marketing a swimsuit as a trisuit. What a crock of $h!^

Here you go:
Yeah, I don't think a tri suit is inapropriate for an IM distance race. I think comfort and race day temps. are the larger issue. My Zoot tri suit has nice padding without being too cumbersome for the run. If it's cool in the morning, I can stay zipped up and warm, unzip the front as it becomes hotter on the bike, then peel down the top for the run if it's really hot. If the whole day is a scorcher then I'll wera a singlet top and shorts.
As far as this Speedo suit, I wouldn't wear anything that didn't have some padding.

Of course it's 'effing hard, it's IRONMAN!
Ok...that's one.
He must be really fast at potty stops.
I used to have a nice tri suit...really liked it. Did a race in '05 and went to potty right before the start.. with TWO minutes to go, as I'm pulling the thing up and zipping...the zipper breaks.
The only thing I had on hand in Transition was a t shirt...so I rolled down the suit top slapped on the T and went...
Whatever makes you comfy, but for me...the less to mess with on race day,the less that can go wrong...the better.
Now, I'm 51 and after 30 years of riding bikes, "the equipment" is a little beat up.Don't know your age group, but if you are a young stud...You want padding!
I'm thinking triguy is right....call the company.

I can see your points. One-piece trisuits are harder to deal with during a visit to the port-o-toilet. The way I look at it though, if an extra 60 sec. of fiddling with your suit is that big of a deal, you should be going on the go anyway. Pros and top age-groupers rarely actually stop to go and if I was close enough to actually qualifying (which I am not) I wouldn't even think of stopping.
I know for a fact that a number of Pros and age groupers race IM without a chamois. Tribro's brother Chris does, for one. Faris al-Sultan does, too. I was really just hoping to find out what people are using to minimize chafing in these type situations.

I do not wear them. The potty thing is the big issue for me, I refuse to go while on the bike(yes, there are a few threads on this). While I my "equipment" is not the same as you guys, I still need SOME padding-- For an IM I wear a Tritop and tri shorts. This also makes it easier to strip to running shorts if you choose for the run.

Looks like Chris is wearing the two piece. Prolly no less comfy. And the shot of him on the Speedo page on the bike is also a 2 piece. But still no pad. Balls of steel I guess. I am not that brave. But I also do not have that much $$ on the line. Wonder what his saddle/ saddle cover combo is.

Thats Marino Vanhoenacker, he won Florida. And the suit he is wearing is actually a Skinfit Tri Speedsuit. He had to ask Skinfit if they could make him one WITHOUT the "Skinfit"logo on it, since he isn't sponsored by them.
Alex Taubert races IM distance tri's in that suit too. Although he doest change in running gear after the bike. But he DOES do the bike in the suit.
I have the same suit and I thought it would be hell to do the bike course of an Olympic in it, but it was great and this weekend I'm doing the Antwerp 70.3 IM and doing it in my Skinfit Tri Speedsuit.
I'll tell you how it went.. fyi, it has a little tiny extra fabric around the southern region.. just enough.. but not much!

It ain't much, if it ain't Dutch!!
Here you go:
AND WHAT ABOUT FARIS... I have a HARD time believing that tiny little speedo he wore at Kona lastyear had any kind of pad in it...
I think that there are LOTS of people out there that have done the distances soo regularly that they are not susceptable to the tenderness felt by the common man(or woman)...
I don't really have any pain after 60-70 miles on a bike(with tri shorts) but then again, anytime your body sits down for 3.5 hours, you get a little uncomfortable...

Ok, I just received my brand-new Speedo fsII trisuit. I have noticed a number of professionals using these suits (including Chris Lieto) so I figured it can't be a bad suit for Ironman distance, right? Then I noticed. It doesn't have a chamois!! Man, this is gonna hurt over 112 miles. So my question is this: For those of you who do Ironman in a suit w/out a chamois, how do you keep from losing all of the skin down there? Cake on the bodyglide? A handful of vaseline? What?
