USATF outdoor championships
I'm impressed with Jorge Torres winning the 10k. It wasn't a stellar time (although faster than I could run), but the fact that he hung in there and went for it is great. Ever since he graduated college he seems to have been floating around, finish in the top 5-10 of races, but not winning a whole lot. This may help propel him to the next level of really competing worldwide, rather than just being competative in the U.S.
It was too bad, though, that we missed a Webb/Lagat 1500 and/or 5k showdown...

Webb pulled out of the meet. Gabe Jennings finished 2nd to Lagat in the 1500, which was great to see since Gabe has been out of the sport for much of the last 5 years.
i'm kind of glad webb didn't run... he's been rather dissappointing lately. But props to Jennings and Torres. I also liked Lauren Fleshman's sweet kick at the end of the women's 5k.
When is a 27:34 disappointing? I mean, it's only in the top-10 fastest american 10k times.
"The faster you run, the quicker you'll be done."
Lagat's 3:51.53 to Webb's 4:00.87 at the Prefontaine classic is hardly a showdown....
Did you forget the part about pulling up with just under 200 to go grabbing his hamstring? That can cost you some time.

How about some of those nice 5k times? It was close in both the men's and women's 5k. American distance running is hopefully going to make a strong showing at the next outdooe world championships.
It was nice of ESPN to show 4 hours worth of coverage... although I would have liked to see more mid-distance and distance events. I just hate watching 5 heats of the 100m...
