The good news - very little rain during the race (light drizzle started after 1/2 racers were off the bike)

The bad news - tons of rain in the 48 hours prior to the race. All that rain had the Schuykill river an ugly chocolate brown full of debris. The result was a last minute cancellation of the swim:(

Lars Beck and the rest of the Philly Tri did an outstanding job modifying the race to a 5K/40K/10K duathlon at the last minute, though personnaly I was totally unprepared for that much running. Despite the last minute change, the race went well. The bike course is FANTASTIC - some technical hills, great scenery, and good support. My first run and the bike went great, the second run was a little slower than I would have liked, but I'm not used to the run/bike/run format, so my expectations were built around the traditional tri format. Hopefully the weather cooperates next year, this is a great race!

Yeah I enjoyed it as well. I did the race last year as well as this year and I have to say its one of my favorite races. Great bike course. I was looking forward to the swim, since its been my area of focus for the past week or so, but as soon as they announced the no wetsuit policy, I started hoping they would cancel the swim...and I got my wish. Lars did a great job pulling the race together for the 2nd year.

If you wish to be out front, then act as if you were behind.
