Money in Triathlon?

turning a profit in the triathlon world is pretty hard. the most profitable brand is Ironman and those organizers make more than the athletes.
If you want to make big money as a pro you have to genourous sponsors and race in the ITU. the chance of supporting yourself on races alone is probably nil.

I convinced my firm to sponsor me in races. In return, I have our coporate logo silk screend onmy race and practrice suits. They give me $1000.00 per year as a budget. Not a lot but pays for some of the more $ races like IM and 1/2 IM events and that keeps the missus happy! :)

Who makes money in triathlon? How much do elite triathletes make? Do the sponsors of event organizers make more than the athletes?
