I am officially freaking out!!!!!!!!
You will be fine :) As long as you have built your aerobic base properly over the last 6 months, you are not going to loose it all over the course of 2 weeks. If you can get in the pool next week or hop on the bike, you can look at this as just starting your taper earlier than planned. Let your ankle and body heal form all the training you have done, your heart, lungs, mind, body and sole will still be their for you when the gun goes off and you will fly Iron-Girl :)

That totally SUCKS! People are SO careless and inconsiderate of those of us who find fitness important. I've had my share of words and gestures:p with idiot drivers who nearly ran me down too. I understand your frustration about not being able to run...after my last race, I couldn't run for three weeks and it killed me! (But, when I did hit the pavement again, I felt great..the time off helped)
The good thing is that you're ok and not DEAD! Take the time to recover and let your ankle heal, otherwise all of your hard work will be for nothing come IM. You definitely can keep your fitness through biking and swimming...and maybe pool-running? Did the doc suggest the ice/heat therapy? If not, this always works for me to heal from injury (10min ice/10min heat...repeat X3). Keep your head focused on your goal....this is just a bump in the road. You're in great shape and have time enough to prepare for Sept... Good luck!

Thank you guys. The doctor did suggest the cold/heat therapy and I am doing this but I am still worried. I have been training for this event since January of this year and I do have a good base on all 3 diciplines but, my weakness is the run part. I am not a runner and I hate to have to stop for a while because I feel that this will affect my fitness in this sport. I am grateful I am not injured in a more serious way but, I am injured non the less. It is true, some drivers dont care much to share the roads with us at all. I have had my share of being chased also by dogs whos owners leave them roaming loose all the time, even if there is a leash law in this comunity. Sheeeeesh!!!!!!!!!!

Someone already said what I wanted to say: HEY you're not DEAD or injured more seriously! Now, 2 weeks off won't ruin all your training. I've stayed 1 week SICK and lost 3kg and my performance didn't drop that MUCH (it has come back in another 2 weeks).

Running is my strongest leg. I find that people who are not strong runners often benefit greatly from time off. Running is so destructive that by giving your legs the chance to really heal often results in improved performance. My wife is an intermediate runner and whenever she takes a week or 10 days off, her first run out of the box is usually one of her best!

It really will be all ok.

I second Red. I will get minor injuries every couple of months that result in 3-5 days off, even up to two weeks and they really have no effect on my training. I would think it would be even more true for someone traing for an ironman vs. a HIM. Your fitness is at a much better level, and as Red said you probably will heal to the point where you will be much more refreshed and better off in two weeks. You've been training for 6 months, 2 weeks won't make hardly any difference. Enjoy your race!

one of the men that helped me offered to take me home. I was thankfull that I wasn't hit and pissed that this driver was so f......ing careless, at the same time. When I got home, he helped me to my kitchen and even took some ice and put it in a bag for me to put on my foot immediately.
Be careful, but also be careful of letting stranger give you a ride home and let them in your house  ! Good luck and I hope your injury heels soon.....I hope you will be able to compete in Wisconsin!
Welcome to Ironman training! Like it or not, it is rare to train for so many months and not having anything go wrong that forces you to take a break from training for one reason or another.
A 2-week break will actually probably do you a world of good, if you can just hang on mentally. Whenever I am forced to reduce/eliminate one sport, I consider how I can make improvements in other areas.
So you can't run--but I bet you can swim with a pull buoy NOW.
So you can't run--but I bet you can work on your flexibility a little more.
So you can't run--but I bet you can do some additional strength training for the next 2 weeks.
3 years ago when I couldn't run or bike for 2 weeks, I did a lot of walking, and I swam about 25,000 yards per week and did a little extra strength training. I did not lose any aerobic fitness, and I came back stronger than ever. Bonus, my swimming got faster!
You will, too. But remember, Job #1 is to heal that ankle. Take the job of healing yourself as seriously as you do your training. In this case, for a sprain, RICE is king! Keep it elevated whenever possible; keep it under compression with an Ace bandage most of the day (and certainly while you sleep), ice it twice a day for a maximum of 10-15 minutes, and rest it. A little Vitamin I for 2 weeks (naproxen sodium generic or Alleve if you like to spend a lot more money) will also be a good thing.
If you don't heal this 100% you will be plagued by a bad ankle for many months to come. Trust me, I've watched other athletes go back to things too soon.
After a 2-week layoff from running, it will only take you 2-3 weeks to get back to a 1:30 long run, and that gives you plenty of time to get in a number of 2-hour runs in preparation for IMWI.
Deep breaths, it's OK to cry about this (been there, done that), but now you should stop and get busy on healing yourself.
You will be fine. I am glad that you are ok. Just like the other posts, stay off of your ankle! ICE ICE ICE!
Take this time to swim and get better at that. Try a little water jogging too

Don't worry - You'll be ready to toe the line with us in Sept. We have over 79 days - time is on your side. Good advice from Kona.

I also hope you are ok... and wish you the best of luck! I'm still dealing with some left-over of a sprained ankle after not letting it heal well... so I can easily understand the temptation to say it is really ok... but swimming and stretching/flexibility stuff as Kona mentioned will be great for you!

:( Dear friends: Yesterday, I went for a 6 mile run out here in my subdivision. I was on mile 3 or so when, I saw a car coming at me. I run against the traffic so I can see the cars and move acordingly so, I moved to my left, close to the white line on the pavement (my subdivision doesn't have side walks so the white line is close to the grass in front of each house). Well, this person was not paying attention because I think he didn't even see me so, in order to avoid getting hit, I had to jump to the grass and doing so I twisted my left ankle and fell. This driver didn't even stop, just kept going, if he would've hit me, I don't think he would've noticed at all. Some people that were in the house across the street came right away to see if I was ok and helped me up. I couldn't put my foot on the grownd so, I was going to call my daughter at work (I always carry my cell and driver's licence when I am on my bike or running) but one of the men that helped me offered to take me home. I was thankfull that I wasn't hit and pissed that this driver was so f......ing careless, at the same time. When I got home, he helped me to my kitchen and even took some ice and put it in a bag for me to put on my foot immediately. I called my daughter at work, (she works with a doctor) and she came almost right away and took me to get some x-rays. Fortunately my foot is not broken or anything, the doctor said it was only a sprain and it will heal in a week or two, but  I don't have a week or two to spare. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I'm in the middle of my peak for Wisconsin and I am so scared now. Will I be ok? What can I do to keep my fitness? The doctor said that I can probably swim next week and bike, only if it doesn't hurt, but run, not for at least 2 freaking weeks. I wish I knew who this driver was so I can give him a piece of my mind, then, beat him to a pulp. I want your advise, your comments, please tell me if I will be ok. I am crying now and really, really worried and sad. I have worked so hard to get ready for this and now, due to the carelessness of this idiot driver, I am in this predicament. I'm sorry for the lenght of this post but I just needed to vent my frustrations to you all. Thanks for listening.
Maria.
