Tire quandry

Upon loading my bike onto the trainer today, I noticed that I had a flat, and furthermore, a puncture in the tire itself. So I went to the local bike shop and bought "upgraded" Continental Ultra Gatorskins-two of them. Should I put both of them on so that the mileage canbe tracked easier or should I replace the flat with a new tire and ride with two different types of tires. Also, Ive thought about putting my new tire on the front and changing the old tire to the back so that I can ride on the trainer with an old tire instead of the brand new tires.
Also, I dont have much money, so buying another rim isnt in the cards for me right now.
Hope I made sense to someone.

I try to use older tires on the trainer cause I am on there up to twice a week, even during good weather, and that's a lot of wear on good tires. If you only have one set of wheels I'd put the older tire on the back and new tire on the front. The mileage won't match for the tires even if you switch them both, since the back tire is going to get a higher usage because of time on the trainer.

I don't have a separate rear wheel, so I change out my back tire for trainer sessions. Yes, it's a pain at first. But on the bright side you get faster at tire changes this way.

just look on ebay for a cheap rear wheel (that is true) and cassette (but if you had to change the cassette out each time it's not difficult at all)

I would absolutely change both tires to the CONTI gators..

I ride the GP4000's and LOVE 'EM!!
