New to the triathlon and do not have a wet suit. Water is 58 degrees and should be able to handle it for the 800m swim. Has anyone tried a tight fitting long sleeve running top (coolmax or similiar wicking material) to add some insulation to our skinny bodies?

Thanx

I'd check if others would be wearing wetsuits. 800M could take 15-20 minutes, especially in cold water. Might be uncomfortable and tough. Don't wear a long sleeve running jersey though it'll definitely stretch out and create drag.

Nix the running jersey idea.
Rent the wet suit...Good opportunity to see if you may want to buy one for future tri's. You will go faster in a wet suit too.
(In a high pitched voice) 58 degree water is very cold!!

If you have to use a sleveless you are better off globbing on some vaseline on your arms. :D

Nothing to it, but to do it

rented a short sleeve/ shorts one piece wet suit for my daughter and convinced her to wear it tommorrow. Borrowed a nice full length triathlon wetsuit (QR) from a friend for myself. She is not convinced that she needed it but since she told me we are supposed to make this fun and no pressure, she has agreed to wear it. I bought her a set of wet suit gloves earlier as she has a tendency to get cold hands swimming or running in the cold. Other than the water temperature of Green Lakes the day should be ideal.

Thanx everyone
