What’s the wildest trick you have every pulled off on your road bike while training or in a race?
I just read this snippet today from the Tour de Suisse.

16.06.2006/ Oscar Freire (Rabobank) sealed a crafty Stage 7 win at the TdS on Friday. With 3 km to go the Spaniard bunny-hopped a road divider to take the short way around a roundabout and pull clear of Mick Rogers (T-Mobile) and the rest of a four-man break. Rogers and co. were swamped by the fast-finishing peloton in the final 500 metres, but Freire held on to win by three seconds from David Benatti and Erik Zabel.

I have never bunny-hopped anything, but once I slide almost totally sideways for about 8 feet to avoid a car that turned in front of me unexpectedly. I came out of the skid and rode happily on my way. All these people were looking at me like “wow that guy is good little did they know that I almost cra%%ed my shorts.

Wow. I don't have anything that interesting.

Although, I was really close with avoiding a couple of humans on the wrong side of the path. I looked really good swerving around them and I almost saved it, but I ended up wrecking and flying with a forward (collar bone breaking) back flip onto the concrete.

I was riding my mountain bike with my kids very slowly and came to a complete stop and stayed there for a good 5 seconds.

However, I forgot I was clipped in and fell over, Benny Hill style.
Musch to the amusement of my daughters.
(my 5 year old almost peed her pants laughing in fact)
I told them this is why even adults have to wear helmets :D

Nothing to it, but to do it

in the park where we train, there is a lake in the middle which is home to many ducks.... it also has a 4k loop road around the otside. One day we were doing a time trial on the loop road and as i came around one of the cornrers i saw 2 ducks crossing.

i was going so fast they had no time to re-act so i reefed the handle bars up into a wheelie and kicked my feet up at the same time making the bike jump i missed the ducks got about 3ft of air(so im told) landed on the FRONT wheel and somehow managed to stay upright afteri fought off the wobbles,

biggest fluke ever!

This one time...in the Tour de France I was riding on a hot tarmac road and the guy next to me fell and broke his leg. I almost went down, but I didn't. I made a detour through a farmers field, got off my bike, hopped over a ditch, got back on the bike and continued the race.

Oh, wait...that wasn't me. Sorry.:D
