yesterday i had the day off of work so i was being pretty relaxed about my training for the day...i did an hour long ride at around 8:00 am and then proceeded to sit around and do little for the rest of the day in preparation for my afternoon run...

midway through the day my girlfriend decided it would be a good idea for us to go see a matinee at the dollar theater...while there i ate an entire box of juju bees...

when i got home i got my stuff ready to go and went out for a shortish run (5 miles)...half-way through i started to feel a little funny in my stomach but thought little of it...my girlfriend then asked about a weird noise she was hearing (as she was riding a bike along with me). i stopped running and the noise stopped and then started again when i started...my stomach was making a super weird squeezy/sloshy noise every stride...i then realized i had not drank anything aside from coffee all day, eaten only a box of juju bees, and it was about 90 degrees out...

i guess this goes to show that when you break routine, you tend to forget things, like hydrating and nutrition.

Oh boy, is that a weird story?

I am definitely focused on routine. I eat the same things everyday, for example. That kind of stuff just couldn't happen with me.

But, did you have any major problem or was it only the noise?

Changing your routine in matters of athletic activity is sometimes detrimental....I am sure your guts were screaming to you...to put something inside...
Hope everything went smooth and no major trouble besides de noisy stomach....

JU JU BEES:eek:
Are those the hard ones (or is that JU JU Fruits)?
They probably started hardening in your stomach like bondo putty.
Next time try the Jelly Belly Sport Beans.
Delicious and nutritious....

for a super long time (before i started doing triathlons) i wouldn't eat much of anything throughout the day until i was done with work, then i would eat until i went to sleep...super bad idea, but it was the norm for many years...ever since then, i have been eating 4 meals (sometimes 5) a day, but i still have the ability to go until the late afternoon without eating much.

they were the juju bees, the little ones that are super super hard and get caught in your teeth.

At least you didn't go for your run and the noises that your stomach was making turned into something solid!

I had my first ever "emergency" while out on a run. I was about a quarter of a mile in and all of the sudden I stopped and turned around. The quicker I tried to walk back to my car the quicker it came out. Oh the horror, those poor little people in the ez mart probably thought I was some horrible person after I got done with their bathroom. :(

Hmmm. Maybe you should have had the Sno-Caps!
As much as I decry the tyranny of triathlon over our everyday life..eating is one thing that really is 24/7. Even if you aren't that athletic you should "Think before you eat." If you are an athlete...more so.
Our culture leads us to just shovel in the food without thinking...very bad.
